Iraklis Hatziathanasiou joins the Celestia group.

Iraklis Hatziathanasiou joins the Celestia group. Iraklis Hatziathanasiou has joined Celestia in the newly created role of Product Director to boost its current growth trajectory and support its mission to develop the next generation of solutions for the space industry. Iraklis' extraordinary career in the aerospace and defence sectors spans more than three decades at senior level. He joins Celestia from CesiumAstro where he was Senior Director of Business Development. Previously, Iraklis was Managing Director of Swedish Space Corporation (SSC UK) and Head of Strategy & Innovation for the SSC Connect Division. He was also the former Vice President of Business Development at AAC Clyde Space. Alongside bringing expertise from senior technical roles at Honeywell Aerospace, Kymatics and QinetiQ, for the last 21 years Iraklis has held an advisory role with the European Commission as an independent expert in a number of policy sectors, including space. "I am delighted to be joining a dynamic team with both a great technical basis and an amazing potential, where I can accelerate Celestia's current success and drive faster and more sustainable growth, particularly in expanding its capabilities from ground technologies to space systems," said Iraklis. "Celestia already possesses both the technical knowledge and a range of products that cover many aspects of a telecommunications link. I am very excited about the prospect of building on this heritage to develop the next generation of telecomms solutions for the space industry. "The space industry has been very slow to adopt the technical advances that were made in the mobile phone industry. With the global geopolitical changes and defence driven initiatives, there is both an opportunity and a major need to advance the technology and become a major player in the global market. "We are seizing the opportunity to do both. An ambitious new programme of product development is underway at Celestia to launch transformative solutions not just in the ground segment but also in the space segment, that will be a paradigm shift for the industry. Watch this space," he said. In welcoming Iraklis to the group, Celestia CEO George Gardner said, "This is a key enabling appointment for Celestia. Iraklis has a rare combination of skills at senior level to enhance its commercial and strategic development, focusing on its advanced telecommunications payload ambition whilst contributing to the group's growth plans more widely. "He brings his own energy and insight to match Celestia's dynamic approach to the space communications market. Together, these qualities will mean we take major strides forwards in our commercial development to create breakthrough solutions for the industry at large. It's going to be hugely exciting and we cannot wait to see the impact," he said.

SSC Space Go global ground station services selected for Seiren's FUSION-1 mission via Infostellar platform.

SSC Space Go global ground station services selected for Seiren's FUSION-1 mission via Infostellar platform. SSC Space, a global provider of advanced space services, together with Infostellar Inc. ("Infostellar"), a provider of ground station networks virtualization platforms, and Seiren Co., Ltd. ("Seiren"), have signed a contract for satellite communications services supporting Seiren's FUSION-1 mission. The services will leverage SSC Space Go and the Infostellar ground station networks virtualization platform. Under this agreement, SSC Space Go, SSC Space's newly launched global ground station service for small satellites and constellations, will support the FUSION-1mission. Through StellarStation, Infostellar's ground station networks virtualization platform, the mission will gain access to the communications opportunities required for satellite operations. As demand for small satellite constellations and satellite data applications continues to grow in Japan, the capability to flexibly utilize domestic and international ground station networks is becoming increasingly important for efficient satellite operations. This project demonstrates how a Japanese-operated satellite can leverage a new international ground station network architecture. It provides an additional option for satellite operators in Japan and contributes to the continued development of the Japanese space industry. "Seiren has already established full-scale mass production capabilities for small satellites and is now expanding into satellite operations through the FUSION-1 mission. Under our collaboration with SSC Space, a global ground station service provider, and Infostellar, which offers a platform connecting ground station networks and satellite operations, we are now able to access international ground station networks and further enhance our satellite operation capabilities," says Hideyuki Yamada, President and Representative Director at Seiren. "We aim to increase the value of satellite-based services by expanding opportunities for satellite operations and data acquisition. We are pleased that this collaboration creates an important opportunity for the expansion of Japanese satellite constellation businesses and believe it will contribute to the continuous growth of the space industry in Japan." "We are honored to support Seiren's FUSION-1 mission in collaboration with SSC Space, one of the world's largest ground station service providers," says Naomi Kurahara, CEO, Infostellar. "SSC Space Go is designed as a ground station service optimized for small satellite constellations, and by connecting this network to Infostellar's cloud platform, StellarStation, we are now able to provide StellarStation platform users with an even broader range of service options. We will continue working closely with SSC Space to deliver highly reliable ground station services in a simple and timely manner." "This contract marks an important milestone for SSC Space and SSC Space Go, our new global ground station service that is tailored to the growing commercial space market. It also reflects our commitment to the Japanese market," says Mac Kanazawa, Country Manager of Japan, SSC Space. "By leveraging SSC Space Go, this project strengthens our engagement with Japan's space ecosystem, and we look forward to continuing to provide world-class space services to support the growth of Japan's innovative space industry."
