Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).
  • 4+ years of experience in battery pack design and development, preferably in the automotive or energy storage industry.
  • Proficiency in simulation and modeling software for battery component and system optimization.
  • Strong understanding of thermal management and safety considerations for battery packs.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations pertaining to battery technology.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
  • Understanding of various manufacturing processes and quality control methods used in battery pack and component manufacturing.
  • Ability to be self-sufficient with minimal direction to meet customer deliverables.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interface with colleagues and suppliers around the world
  • Ability to read, interpret and generate engineering drawings and specifications.
Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high voltage battery packs for electric vehicles, ensuring performance, reliability, and safety meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Create innovative, integrated battery solutions to optimize packaging, mass, and cost of the vehicle
  • Develop thermal management solutions to maintain optimal operating temperatures, ensuring battery cells are protected from extreme conditions and prolonging their lifespan
  • Plan and execute comprehensive testing protocols, including environmental, mechanical, electrical, and safety tests. Analyze data and make necessary design adjustments based on results.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, software engineers, and manufacturing teams to integrate battery packs seamlessly into vehicle platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to select appropriate battery cell chemistries, capacities, and form factors.
  • Integrate cells into modules and packs while considering thermal management, electrical connectivity, and mechanical robustness.
