About the company

SpaceX builds and launches reusable rockets and spacecraft for NASA, the military, and companies, and it runs Starlink, a satellite internet service for homes and businesses. In 2020, its Dragon capsule became the first privately built spacecraft to carry astronauts to the International Space Station. Its Falcon 9 rocket lands its first stage so the booster can fly again, which cuts launch costs, while Starlink beams internet from low-orbit satellites to small dishes for a monthly fee. SpaceX also owns xAI, maker of the Grok chatbot and owner of the social network X, and is building Starship, a fully reusable rocket meant to carry people to the Moon and Mars. Elon Musk founded SpaceX in 2002, and it is based in Starbase, Texas.

What believers are saying

  • Starlink demand keeps compounding: subscribers doubled to 12 million in the year to June 2026.
  • Room to grow: SpaceX listed 2,693 open roles in October 2026, over a third of them for Starlink.
  • Rivals rent its AI supercomputers: Claude maker Anthropic agreed in May 2026 to pay SpaceX $1.25 billion a month.

What critics are saying

  • Stock grants swing hard: shares closed between $108 and $211 in the four months after the June 2026 IPO.
  • Expect long weeks: 1,724 of SpaceX's 2,693 job posts in October 2026 mention extended hours and weekend work.
  • AI spending outruns sales: SpaceX put $15.8 billion into AI data centers in the June 2026 quarter, double its revenue.

SpaceX loses bid to dismiss NAACP Clean Air Act suit over Mississippi AI data centres

A federal judge has refused to dismiss a Clean Air Act lawsuit against Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX), allowing the case to proceed. The NAACP complaint targets emissions from gas-fired turbines that power SpaceX's AI data centres in Mississippi. The suit alleges the pollution affects nearby communities. The case adds a possible cost and operating limit for the company's AI assets, particularly if permitting or retrofit rules apply. It does not affect third-quarter sales of $14,575 million. SpaceX plans to fund AI expansion through a $3.42 billion shelf and a $40 billion AI financing package. Upcoming filings or hearings may show whether it faces fines, operating limits, or higher compliance spending.

SpaceX faces October 26 test as 319M insider shares become eligible for sale

SpaceX faces a test on October 26, when about 319 million insider shares become eligible for sale. The release is part of a phased lockup schedule that follows its June 2026 IPO. Eligibility does not mean holders will sell right away. SpaceX priced its IPO at $135 per share on June 11, 2026, and reportedly raised $75 billion by selling 555.6 million new Class A shares. More releases follow. Up to 1.3 billion shares could become eligible after third-quarter results, and about 797.6 million more on December 8, when the 180-day lockup expires. Elon Musk's shares are under a separate 366-day lockup. Analysts differ: Phillip Securities set a $75 target, while Morgan Stanley's Adam Jonas projected $300 by mid-2027.

SpaceX slips below $135 IPO price as Binance's CZ stays bullish on $1B stake

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) said Saturday that SpaceX will be one of the best stocks to hold for years. Hours earlier, SpaceX shares closed at $134.72, just under their $135 June listing price. Binance holds more than $1 billion in SpaceX stock, a stake that began as a $500 million bet on Elon Musk's 2022 Twitter takeover. Some users read CZ's Friday mention of the shares as a threat to sell. He rejected that: "I don't make threats." Analysts remain upbeat. Of 35 tracked by TipRanks, 29 rate the stock a Buy, with an average target of $250.34, about 86% above Friday's close. Options traders expect a 14% swing by December 18. The last locked-up shares become sellable on December 8.

SpaceX stock is 34% off its high as AI unit hits $7.6B quarterly revenue

SpaceX's super intelligence segment, formerly called artificial intelligence, was its largest source of revenue last quarter. The segment, which includes AI computing and the Grok AI model, posted $7.6 billion in third-quarter revenue, up from $813 million a year earlier. Scale turned a year-ago operating loss of nearly $1.3 billion into a $431 million profit. The stock trades about 34% below its 52-week high of $225.64, as of October 27, 2026. SpaceX is building data centres that it rents to other companies. It is bringing roughly 200,000 Nvidia GB300 chips online per month and aims to add 10 gigawatts by the end of 2027. Free cash flow was negative $35 billion for the first nine months of 2026. Chief executive officer Elon Musk says annual recurring revenue could reach $500 billion to $1 trillion by the end of 2027, against a $2 trillion market cap.

Starlink enterprise and government revenue jumps 91% to $2.13B, outpacing consumer growth

Starlink's business and government customers are growing faster than its consumer base, according to SpaceX's third-quarter results. Enterprise and government revenue rose 91% year over year to about $2.13 billion, while consumer revenue grew 57% to roughly $3.12 billion. Together they make up the connectivity segment, where revenue climbed about 69% to $5.25 billion. Enterprise and government now account for roughly 41% of that, up from about 36%. Aviation is one growth area. Starlink has about 12,000 aircraft under contract, but only about 3,800 were equipped at the end of September. Connectivity's operating margin improved from roughly 38% to 45%, helped by a one-time tariff refund. The segment generated about $2.37 billion of SpaceX's $2.79 billion in third-quarter operating profit.
