  • Ability to successfully undergo a government-sponsored background investigation; U.S. citizenship is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • National certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist through the American Society for Clinical Pathology or American Medical Technologists.
  • At least 3 years of recent experience in chemistry, urinalysis, blood bank, hematology, coagulation, and microbiology.
  • Current and up-to-date continuing education to maintain certification.
  • Knowledge of College of American Pathologists and The Joint Commission standards.
  • COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations are required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above the shoulders during the work shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to carry up to 40 pounds a reasonable distance.
  • Ability to push or pull with 30 pounds of force.
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine chemistry testing on automated instrumentation, including Abbott Architect ci8200, Abbott Alinity, Advanced Instruments Osmos, and Polymedco OC80, as well as manual chemistry tests.
  • Conduct daily and weekly quality-control procedures and instrument maintenance.
  • Perform urinalysis testing using automated instrumentation, including Beckman Coulter Urinalysis, and manual techniques.
  • Execute blood-bank duties, including cross-matching, antibody screening and identification, selected-cell panels, and processing blood products.
  • Conduct hematology and coagulation testing using automated instruments, including Sysmex, ACL Top, Alcor iSed, and manual procedures.
  • Perform microbiology testing, including plating, Gram staining, reading plates, subbing plates, Microscan setup, polymerase chain reaction testing, and other routine procedures.
  • Conduct patient phlebotomy and sample processing.
  • Perform patient and quality-control testing according to established protocols and participate in the College of American Pathologists Proficiency Testing Program.
  • Independently test, evaluate, document, and report patient-testing and quality-control results.
  • Identify, document, and resolve collection, processing, testing, or reporting issues.
  • Positively identify patients before sample collection and samples before testing or aliquoting.
  • Safeguard electronic and paper patient information.
  • Provide patient-centered care and professional service to stakeholders and customers.
  • Work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
