About the job
- Strong knowledge of the life insurance underwriting process and life insurance terminology is preferred.

- Coordinate and manage all aspects of the underwriting and implementation process, providing proactive service to clients and negotiating with life insurance companies.
- Manage general underwriting cases.
- Provide regular case status updates to Client Relationship Managers and Project Managers.
- Ensure status updates are regularly emailed to clients and advisors, either directly or through Client Relationship Managers and Project Managers.
- Confirm that agents are contracted, licensed, and appointed.
- Conduct 15–30-minute telephone interviews with clients or advisors to collect personal, financial, medical, and avocation histories.
- Schedule medical exams, send reminders, and follow up to ensure completion.
- Coordinate the ordering of Attending Physician Statement records and review them upon receipt to assess medical history.
- Negotiate with carrier underwriters for the best possible risk classification and elimination of additional requirements.
- Assess how final offers will affect case design and work with design analysts to update the design accordingly.
- Complete and review life insurance application paperwork.
- Work with insurance company case managers to ensure items are processed and policies are issued efficiently and on time.
- Prepare and send Portfolio Summaries to clients after coverage has been placed in force.
- Break down underwriting files and inform the Client Services team of future administrative obligations for the portfolio.
