Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED program.
  • Completion of one year of automotive repair or maintenance training.
  • Three years of automotive repair work-related experience, or 45 hours of college from an accredited college or university, or a combination of the two.
  • Knowledge of standard software applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, and the general public.
  • A valid Class B Texas driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Ability to provide a copy of a 10-year driving history.
  • Ability to maintain a good driving record and remain in compliance with Article II, Subdivision II of Chapter 90 of the Dallas County Code.
  • Successful completion of a mandatory pre-employment drug test and compliance with random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol testing during employment.
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift more than 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and in awkward positions.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze vehicle needs and perform necessary maintenance and repairs.
  • Operate shop equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes and tune-ups.
  • Maintain records of parts replaced, repair work completed, and routine maintenance performed.
  • Assist with compressed natural gas conversions and repairs.
  • Keep the work area clean, safe, and properly maintained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
