About the job

Requirements
  • A BS or MS in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, physical sciences, or engineering.
  • Five to ten years of experience in software product management or UX/product design, including at least three years owning a software product experience end to end.
  • Hands-on UX and UI design ability, demonstrated by a portfolio of interface work personally produced and tested in Figma or equivalent tools.
  • A track record of deep customer and user research, including fieldwork, workflow mapping, and translating observations into shipped product decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to make complex or technical products simple and intuitive for non-expert users.
  • Experience with machine learning or analytics platform products, presenting model outputs to non-expert users, and managing features with non-deterministic behavior.
  • Proficiency with Jira and Agile practices.
Responsibilities
  • Spend substantial time in the field understanding customers’ processes, pain points, and how the product fits into their day-to-day work.
  • Map user workflows across technician, process engineer, and quality manager personas, and distinguish stated needs from latent needs.
  • Build and maintain a deep, structured understanding of user needs to inform product decisions.
  • Own the end-to-end software product experience for non-expert users who need clear, actionable answers without deep metrology, machine learning, or software training.
  • Use Figma or equivalent tools to prototype and test interface concepts and workflows with real users before involving engineering.
  • Simplify the product by reducing user-facing steps, parameters, and decisions, working with engineering to hide or automate unnecessary complexity.
  • Define how measurement results and analytics are presented to each persona, communicating confidence and uncertainty in plain language.
  • Translate customer and user understanding into clear product definitions and feed them into the requirements process through active collaboration with engineering.
  • Partner with data science and machine learning teams to shape the analytics layer for non-expert users, including reducing manual model training as a user-facing step.
  • Contribute customer and product insight to the roadmap and product direction led by the Head of Product.
  • Prioritize Jira tickets for product workstreams and facilitate planning with engineering and commercial teams.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience designing software for industrial, scientific instrumentation, or non-destructive testing applications.
  • Background in or exposure to battery manufacturing, aerospace coatings, or semiconductor materials.
  • Experience with software deployed in industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites in North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia.
  • Prior experience at an early-stage deep-tech startup.

About the company

SirenOpt creates sensors and software to speed up research and development and make manufacturing of high-performance thin films cheaper. Its hardware sensors collect real-time data on thin-film processes, while the accompanying software analyzes the data, runs models, and helps users optimize production. The company combines both hardware and software with consulting services to help clients integrate these tools into existing workflows. This blend of devices, analytics, and advisory support sets SirenOpt apart from others who may focus on just one part of the stack. The goal is to help customers in electronics, renewable energy, and advanced materials innovate quickly and produce high-quality thin films at lower costs, enabling scalable, efficient manufacturing.
