Requirements
  • Complete Recovery Mentor training approved by the Oregon Health Authority.
  • Maintain a current Traditional Healthcare Worker certification in compliance with Oregon Administrative Rules.
  • Have experience as a former or current user of behavioral health services.
  • Self-disclose active recovery from substance addiction and personal experience with recovery services.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, a one-year driving history, and a clean driving record; pass a Driver Motor Vehicle check and complete Cascadia’s online Defensive Driving course.
  • Have the ability to perform CPR and properly use automated external defibrillator equipment; maintain required certification. Basic Life Support training is provided within 60 days of hire for client-facing staff, and CPR training is provided within 120 days for other staff.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, active listening, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Know professional standards, ethical conduct, and accountability expectations in a healthcare environment.
  • Understand principles of person-centered care, safety, and well-being.
  • Be able to work proactively and effectively both as part of a team and independently.
  • Operate computer hardware and software at the level needed to perform job functions.
  • Comply with department and program regulations, policies, and procedures, including mandatory abuse reporting laws, HIPAA, and 42 CFR requirements.
  • Complete annual employee training requirements on time and participate in scheduled staff meetings, supervision sessions, and departmental and agency meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and current documentation and electronic medical records as required, in compliance with agency policies and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Work in person in clinical, administrative, and community settings; remain alert to environmental hazards and potential aggressive behavior.
  • Be able to exercise sound judgment and adapt time management to unpredictable circumstances and disruptions.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in clinical case conferences and staff meetings to build knowledge, align with program goals, and advocate for individual needs.
  • Advocate for individuals served within the organization and with external partners or service providers.
  • Demonstrate a recovery-focused and healthy lifestyle.
  • Share personal recovery experiences with individuals served when appropriate and supportive.
  • Ensure the needs and voices of individuals served are represented.
  • Connect individuals served with recovery support models and community resources.
  • Assist individuals served in developing a strong, sustainable support network.
  • Guide individuals served in accessing and navigating community systems, including recovery communities, housing resources, and public transportation.
  • Apply Feedback Informed Treatment practices in service delivery in alignment with Cascadia’s and the program’s current level of implementation.
  • Assist in crisis situations as appropriate, following emergency protocols and procedures.
  • Understand fire regulations and evacuation procedures and participate in required safety drills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
