Security Engineer Intern
About the job
- Deep understanding of the OWASP Top 10 for web and mobile applications, including the ability to exploit and remediate these vulnerabilities.
- Hands-on experience with Burp Suite, Metasploit, Nmap, Postman, or similar open-source security tools.
- Ability to read Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript code and write scripts to automate attacks or defenses.
- Participation in capture-the-flag competitions or bug bounty programs, or ranking on platforms such as HackTheBox or TryHackMe.
- Ability to explain complex vulnerabilities clearly to developers.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on web applications, Android and iOS applications, and application programming interfaces.
- Help integrate static application security testing and dynamic application security testing tools into continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
- Review source code for security flaws such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting, and insecure direct object references, and help developers write secure code.
- Analyze incoming bug reports from bug bounty programs, validate them, and prioritize fixes.
- Work with product and engineering teams during the design phase to identify potential security risks through threat modeling.
- Stay updated on the latest common vulnerabilities and exposures, zero-days, and security trends.
- Experience with cloud security using Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform.
- A Hall of Fame mention in a major technology company's bug bounty program.
- Open-source security contributions.
