Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the execution of daily operations by working alongside team members and learning to lead, motivate, and influence a team, including the opportunity to lead a department.
  • Work with a mentor to learn how to effectively lead a department and understand different business areas and functions within the building.
  • Problem-solve, lead and motivate a team, conduct real-time observations, drive results, ensure safety, and maximize productivity.
  • Step into leading the mentor’s work center with guidance and support.
  • Set and plan department daily and weekly workloads to support business priorities and manage a team to deliver goals.
  • Manage a team of hourly team members and create business strategies and goals.
  • Learn about inbound, outbound, and warehousing departments within the distribution center.
  • Help lead on the facility floor and align the team with daily business priorities.
  • Work alongside team members to lead through daily priorities.
  • Maintain quality and inventory accuracy through standardized processes, standard works, job breakdowns, and quality risk analysis while ensuring employee accountability.
  • Track key performance indicators such as safety, teamwork, quality, and productivity to identify gaps and drive corrective actions.
  • Carry out process improvement initiatives using continuous improvement methodologies such as Gemba, Fishbone Analysis, and the Five Whys.
  • Administer communication between the information technology and operations teams to address system issues and conduct testing in the warehouse management system.
  • Recruit and mentor team members to adopt a continuous improvement mindset and guide them toward leadership roles.
  • Address team member concerns and remove operational hurdles to ensure smooth operations and goal attainment.
  • Lead daily operational meetings and share company and site-specific information.
  • Lead or present at daily planning meetings with peer and leadership teams.
  • Plan daily goals and organize shift plans to achieve targets at the start of each shift.
  • Provide end-of-shift summaries of plan attainment, hurdles, successes, and key learnings.
  • Conduct audits for adherence to safety, quality, and productivity standards; share feedback and coach team members on audit observations.
  • Conduct safety walks to identify, resolve, and report findings.
  • Conduct follow-ups on team member attendance and provide necessary coaching.
  • Partner with leaders on team member performance by teaching, coaching, training, and delivering timely performance feedback.
  • Provide new ideas and recommend solutions for business or team opportunities.
  • Participate in internship program training activities, developmental opportunities, and events.
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; lead the team accordingly and hold others accountable.
  • Foster an inclusive, safe, and secure culture.
  • Carry out department duties and responsibilities through internship rotations as trained.
  • Use business reporting and guest insights to understand, troubleshoot, and follow up on opportunity areas.
  • Work with building leaders each day to set goals and expectations.
