About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of direct, hands-on healthcare industry experience in health insurance operations such as underwriting, claims adjudication, utilization management, or product launch, or in health system clinical and operational workflows.
  • Proficiency using Claude (Anthropic) as a development tool, including demonstrated use of the Claude API, prompt engineering, tool use, and agentic patterns to build real applications; using Claude only as a chat interface does not qualify.
  • Ability to build and ship end-to-end AI applications independently, including large language model integration, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic orchestration, REST API development, and lightweight front-end interfaces.
  • A demonstrated track record of moving from a business conversation to a working AI prototype in days, with examples of what was built, how quickly, and the problem solved.
  • Ability to explain technical work, its business value, costs, and next steps clearly to healthcare executives without jargon.
  • Comfort participating independently in steering committees, executive briefings, and business rhythm meetings, handling pushback, and demonstrating progress in business-relevant terms.
  • Ability to structure ambiguous business problems into scoped AI opportunities with clear inputs, outputs, and success criteria.
  • Quantitative fluency to build credible business cases estimating time saved, cost reduced, or revenue protected, and translate AI outputs into financial terms.

Responsibilities

  • Engage directly with business stakeholders, including vice presidents, clinical leads, and operations owners, to identify high-value problems and translate them into buildable AI opportunities.
  • Challenge assumptions, define minimum viable AI solutions, map processes end to end, identify opportunities for AI to reduce friction, cost, or decision time, and communicate findings in business terms.
  • Create lightweight scoping documents and return-on-investment estimates that align stakeholders and set success criteria before development begins.
  • Design and build working AI prototypes within days using Claude and the modern AI development stack.
  • Develop full-stack AI applications involving large language model orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, REST API integrations, and lightweight front-end interfaces.
  • Own technical architecture end to end, from prompt design and data pipeline to user interface, and explain design decisions to engineering and business audiences.
  • Iterate based on real user feedback, ship early, and improve prototypes toward production-grade quality.
  • Use Claude to accelerate code generation, testing, documentation, and solution design.
  • Partner with the AI Governance team to validate, harden, and evolve prototypes into production-grade, enterprise-ready systems.
  • Apply responsible AI practices, including bias review, explainability, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act compliance, audit logging, and model monitoring.
  • Document solutions so broader engineering teams can hand them off, scale, and maintain them without rework.
  • Contribute reusable patterns from client-specific solutions to the company's AI accelerator library.
  • Participate in client business rhythm meetings, sprint reviews, program steering committees, and executive status updates.
  • Demonstrate progress through live demos and working software.
  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical business leaders and build trust to move solutions from pilot to scale.
  • Surface blockers, dependencies, and risks early with clear, solutions-oriented framing.
  • Develop expertise in clients' businesses, workflows, data, competitive pressures, and regulatory environments.
  • Understand healthcare operations well enough to develop problem hypotheses independently.
  • Build relationships with business counterparts and advise them on what AI can and cannot do in their environment.
  • Share learnings from client engagements with the broader applied AI community.

Desired Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or AutoGen, or equivalent orchestration frameworks, to build multi-step, tool-calling agents in real workflows.
  • Working familiarity with healthcare data standards and context, including HL7, FHIR, ICD-10, CPT, claims data structures, HIPAA requirements, CMS regulations, and FDA digital health guidance as they apply to AI system design and deployment.
  • Prior forward-deployed, embedded, or startup engineering experience, including work inside a client organization, in consulting or embedded delivery, or building products with full-stack ownership and limited support.
  • Experience shipping AI in a health insurance technology company or health system, including navigating compliance, audit trails, explainability, and data governance while maintaining appropriate delivery speed.
  • Experience contributing to reusable AI platforms or accelerators by creating components, patterns, or frameworks that teams can adopt.
  • Knowledge of enterprise AI governance and responsible AI practices, including model risk management, bias evaluation, audit logging, enterprise AI governance frameworks, and collaboration with governance or compliance teams to secure production approval.
