Requirements
  • A PhD is required.
  • Completion of a Radiation Oncology Medical Physics Residency is required.
  • The preferred field of study is Radiation Oncology Medical Physics.
  • ABR or equivalent board certification or eligibility in Radiation Therapy Physics is required, with certification to be obtained within three years of hire.
  • The position requires coverage during core business hours, with flexibility as needed to accommodate business needs.
Responsibilities
  • Provide medical physics services for patients treated with radiation therapy and develop technologies and methods to improve radiation treatment effectiveness.
  • Calibrate and maintain radiation treatment planning and delivery equipment in accordance with national protocols.
  • Establish and conduct a quality assurance program consistent with national protocols.
  • Provide clinical physics support in the routine radiation therapy clinic, including treatment planning, treatment delivery, brachytherapy, stereotactic radiation therapy, and total body irradiation.
  • Develop programs that improve radiation treatment planning and delivery by implementing new approaches.
  • Develop practice standards for new treatment approaches that are consistent with national standards and ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Participate in the development of new technologies and methods to improve radiation treatment effectiveness through translational and clinical research.
  • Participate in education and training for radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, therapists, students, staff, residents, and staff oncologists.
  • Maintain records required for APEx, the Joint Commission, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the State of Wisconsin, and other agencies.
  • Participate in the institution's and department's safety programs, with emphasis on radiation safety.
  • Provide continuing education for students, staff, residents, and staff oncologists.
