Requirements
  • Expert-level understanding of project management practices and tools.
  • Advanced proficiency in several programming languages and control-device networks for programmable logic controllers, with the aptitude to learn additional systems.
  • Ability to read written specifications, contract drawings, and develop complete electrical designs that meet project requirements, electrical design standards, and quotations.
  • Knowledge of controls, material handling, baggage handling systems, and manufacturing.
  • Ability to check diagrams for errors and use the information to train and transfer knowledge to less experienced controls engineers.
  • Organizational and multitasking abilities, attention to detail, ability to work independently and in groups, and ability to receive direction.
  • Critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to customer facilities and work non-business hours based on project and customer needs.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or computer/electrical control systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience in electrical engineering or a related area.
  • At least 6 years of experience in the material handling industry.
  • At least 2 years of experience as an electrical project engineer.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Ability to obtain airport security clearance as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the complete electrical engineering scope of assigned projects through concept, research, estimating support, component selection, network design, panel design, device layout, troubleshooting, programming, in-house testing, on-site installation, commissioning, and after-sales support.
  • Create project execution plans, assign tasks to resources, monitor and report progress, develop recovery plans, and manage deviations.
  • Develop, manage, monitor, and maintain project schedules.
  • Assign day-to-day tasks to project team members.
  • Read and interpret scope from contract documents and drawings.
  • Communicate project, department, and company requirements to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Manage assigned projects to successful completion while prioritizing safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
  • Design complete control systems, including power distribution, device layout, network design, panel layout, and device selection.
  • Program complete control systems using human-machine interfaces and programmable logic controllers.
  • Create descriptions of operations for complete systems.
  • Communicate technical information to nontechnical stakeholders, executive leadership, customers, and potential customers.
  • Commission complete control systems.
  • Identify process improvements and collaborate with management to adopt them.

  • Experience in the material handling industry, preferably baggage handling, beyond the required experience.
