Requirements
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, plus 5+ years of mission-critical services work or applied learning experience in high-availability assembly, manufacturing, critical infrastructure, data centers, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or related environments, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a specialized area such as mechanical, electrical, controls, or a related field.
  • An active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance is required.
  • The candidate must meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements and successfully verify the stated security clearance.
  • The candidate must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • U.S. citizenship must be verified because the position is subject to citizenship-based legal restrictions.
  • The candidate must be able to complete required security training and comply with secure-site access, physical-security, and data-management procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as an operations specialist in a major area of critical-environment operations, such as electrical, mechanical, controls, or generators, and perform advanced tasks independently.
  • Inspect and supervise critical-environment facility equipment, buildings, and grounds for unsafe or abnormal conditions and escalate issues according to applicable policies and standards.
  • Use the internal computerized maintenance management system to track equipment assets and complete maintenance work orders.
  • Respond to and lead on-site incident-response teams for abnormal conditions affecting operations, coordinating corrective repairs with critical-facilities professionals.
  • Enhance, develop, or follow emergency operating procedures, methods of procedure, and standard operating procedures for critical-environment operations and incidents.
  • Perform planned, predictive, and corrective maintenance and repairs on equipment such as electrical, mechanical, and cooling systems under minimal oversight.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, systems, subsystems, and components independently within the trained discipline.
  • Provide troubleshooting consultation to lower-level colleagues.
  • Follow and ensure safety, environmental health and safety, job hazard assessment, toolbox-talk, business-process, and Microsoft work-quality requirements.
  • Maintain the required security clearance and follow site-security procedures for secure operations.
  • Transition between secure and non-secure work areas using required security tools and methods.
  • Comply with physical-security, data-management, equipment-storage, and customer-audit procedures.
  • Complete security training, escort uncleared vendors or IT support on premises, and act on or report security concerns and incidents.

LinkedIn ex-CEO Ryan Roslansky to leave Microsoft in 2026 amid executive departures

Ryan Roslansky, Microsoft's executive vice president and former LinkedIn CEO, will leave the company at the end of 2026. Roslansky, who joined LinkedIn in 2009 and became CEO in 2020, cited family ties to the San Francisco Bay Area as his reason for departing. He will remain as an adviser to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella through December. His exit follows a string of executive departures at Microsoft, including gaming chief Phil Spencer and Office executive Rajesh Jha. Roslansky moved into Microsoft 365 oversight earlier this year after Dan Shapero became LinkedIn's CEO. During Roslansky's six-year tenure leading LinkedIn, membership grew from 700 million to 1.3 billion users. LinkedIn posted 11% revenue growth for Microsoft's most recent fiscal year.

Elizabeth Warren demands answers as Amazon, Google, Meta and Microsoft claim $96B in AI tax breaks

Senator Elizabeth Warren is demanding answers from Amazon, Google, Meta, and Microsoft over $96 billion in lost federal revenue from AI-related tax breaks. Despite reporting massive revenues in Q2 2026, the tech giants saw significant tax reductions last year. Amazon paid $7.8 billion less in tax, Meta nearly $7 billion less, whilst Microsoft and Alphabet each qualified for roughly $19 billion in tax cuts. The companies are benefiting from provisions in Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act, including 100% bonus depreciation for AI data centres and expanded R&D tax credits. Corporate tax revenues have dropped 23% this year, largely due to these AI tax breaks. Warren and fellow lawmakers have sent letters to the companies' CEOs questioning the tax breaks and their lobbying efforts, arguing the costs have been imposed on American families through cuts to Social Security and other programmes.
