Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science, or Engineering is required.
  • Eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • The position requires successful completion of training and may include achieving and maintaining project-management certifications.
Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight for multiple simultaneous projects to achieve business goals.
  • Interface between the team and governance groups to communicate executive-level program and project information for planning, budgeting, metrics, and process improvement.
  • Direct the team on applying appropriate project methodologies, such as waterfall and agile, to different project scenarios based on objectives, delivery timeframes, and project-team composition.
  • Coach, mentor, and manage a team on project-management methodologies and techniques.
  • Collaborate with the Project Portfolio Office to improve tools and methodologies used in program and project management.
  • Track, report, recommend, and implement recommendations to improve project metrics within the assigned functional area.
  • Coordinate across related projects to develop and distribute program-status communications covering milestones, deliverables, budget, risks, and issues.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with operational and information-systems leaders for ongoing communication and collaboration.
  • Maintain the project portfolio summary for central teams and act as liaison to the Project Portfolio Office for project-management activities.
  • Manage related projects as a program, providing oversight and serving as the initial escalation point for project managers and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Finance on work classification, vendor contracts and invoices, budget tracking, and capital-program reporting.
  • Provide senior-level project-management skills for selected projects as needed to supplement project-management team capacity.
  • Facilitate project and team meetings using effective techniques for objectives, agendas, participants, and meeting minutes.
  • Manage all phases of assigned tasks and projects, meet established deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Create, consolidate, and maintain project-methodology tools and templates for the project-management team, adding content specific to central policies for scope, risk, and issue management.
  • Assist junior project managers in orienting team members to project tools and templates.
  • Conduct regular training and knowledge-sharing sessions with project managers and other team members related to project work.
  • Stay current with business and strategic goals and understand other University service providers.
  • Stay apprised of team roles, processes, tools, and architecture to understand how the team works together to meet users' needs.
  • Communicate and educate at the user's level within the user's business environment.
  • Build and maintain internal departmental relationships.
  • Make presentations to staff on work-related issues.
  • Serve on committees and attend meetings as requested.
  • Participate effectively as a team member and perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Healthcare Management/Administration, IT Management, Business, Statistics, Analytics, or Informatics is preferred.
  • Eight years of experience in project management, preferably in healthcare, is preferred.
  • Two to three years in a supervisory capacity is preferred.
  • Three to five years of program-management experience or related experience managing or mentoring other project managers is preferred.
  • The ability to meet deadlines, prioritize workload, and manage resources and time effectively is preferred.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft PowerPoint is preferred; ServiceNow experience is a plus.
  • Leadership, written and verbal communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills are preferred.
  • The ability to take calculated risks and speak up for the best interests of the project team is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and an Agile certification such as ACP, DA, or CSM are preferred.
