About the company

STARK designs and sells luxury carpets and rugs for interior designers and homeowners, with collections for residential and commercial spaces. Its patterned floor coverings have furnished the White House dining room and Oval Office, alongside private homes and historic buildings. Customers choose from ready-made styles or commission rugs in custom sizes, colors and constructions, with materials ranging from wool and silk to synthetic fibers. The business earns revenue through product sales online and in showrooms, where specialists guide customers through samples and specifications. STARK was founded in 1938 and is headquartered in New York City.

What believers are saying

  • STARK's U.S. employee survey is favorable: its June 2026 workplace profile reports 85% call it a great workplace.
  • STARK's Los Angeles account-manager role has variable-pay upside: base pay plus eligibility for commission and/or incentive bonuses.
  • Showroom investment extends reach: STARK announced a West Palm Beach opening scheduled for September 2026.

What critics are saying

  • Los Angeles sales entry requires an existing network: STARK demands strong relationships with interior-design clients.
  • U.S. online custom-size orders at STARK restrict flexibility: returns are accepted only for damage or defects.
  • Craft skills constrain production: STARK describes hand-serging as meticulous, time-consuming work requiring skilled artisans.

What makes STARK Carpet unique

  • Historic projects have a specialist channel: STARK reproduces and restores rugs and carpets for heritage spaces.
  • STARK automates a traditional finish: organic serging blends wool yarn colors to mimic hand-serged edges.
  • Family control spans generations: STARK remains owned and run by the third generation of its founding family.
