Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Completed Certified Peer Support Specialist training with active certification through an AHCCCS-approved training program.
  • Personal history as a consumer of target services.
  • Stable recovery, including maintenance services such as community support meetings or ongoing contact with a sponsor or sober supports.
  • Knowledge of the cultural, social, and economic backgrounds of the populations served and ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse issues affecting the populations served.
  • Ability to accomplish the expected quality and quantity of work within set cost and time limits.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional standards and provide appropriate follow-up for consumers.
  • Ability to work with confidential material in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2 regulations, and agency policies.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and electronic health records.
  • Valid and unrestricted Arizona driver's license, with the specified driving-record and insurability requirements.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and obtain a Class I Fingerprint Clearance Card within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to pass substance abuse testing upon employment and submit to random testing during employment.
  • Updated immunization record at the time of employment.
  • Current tuberculosis skin report within 12 months at employment, with annual updates.
  • Ability to obtain Basic Life Support certification within 90 days of employment and maintain certification during employment.
Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one service for each assigned patient, with at least monthly contact or more frequent contact for patients needing additional support.
  • Act as a system navigator by providing patients with tools and support to meet basic needs and engage in their care.
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation, billing, and program audit support.
  • Support the organization as needed.
  • Provide linkage to self-help recovery services, including WRAP and Pathways to Recovery.
  • Respond promptly to phone calls, emails, and other requests.
  • Participate in team meetings and planned activities.
