Requirements
  • A completed master's degree in a relevant field; a PhD is preferred.
  • Strong grounding in science education theory, curriculum, and pedagogy at the secondary level.
  • School-based science teaching experience in secondary schools, preferably in Quebec.
  • Experience supporting teacher candidates in teacher education and/or science methods course contexts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Québec Education Program (QEP), including competencies, progression of learning, and curriculum expectations relevant to secondary science.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced pedagogical approaches for teaching science that support science process skills, conceptual understanding, inquiry, and the development of scientific thinking.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of unifying themes and foundational concepts in science education, including the nature of science.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of equity-oriented and inclusive approaches in science education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of practice-based pedagogies, including rehearsal-based approaches to supporting the development of teaching practice.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of planning, instructional, and assessment practices relevant to secondary science teaching.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of integration of digital technologies in science teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional competency frameworks and professional repository documentation relevant to teacher education.
  • Experience supporting teacher candidates in planning, rehearsing, implementing, and reflecting on science teaching practices.
  • Knowledge of the impact of and experience integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Familiarity with myCourses, Zoom, or similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences.
  • Familiarity with a variety of digital teaching and learning tools.
  • Familiarity teaching blended classes.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in Quebec at the campus where the position is based.
  • English communication skills, both verbal and written.
Responsibilities
  • Organize learning experiences to support students in developing science process skills and understanding unifying themes, issues of equity, and the nature of science.
  • Mobilize digital technologies and relevant Quebec Ministry of Education professional competencies for teachers throughout the course.
  • Teach the course during the Winter 2027 term; instruction may be delivered remotely if required by the university.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience teaching these themes in other university-level courses may be considered equivalent to having taught the specific course.

Club M&A and McGill's Dobson Centre launch acquisition programme as $218B in Canadian businesses set for ownership transition

Club M&A Canada and McGill's Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship have opened registration for their first Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition programme. The intensive four-day course, running 27–30 October in Montreal, targets professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs interested in acquiring existing small or medium-sized businesses. The programme addresses a significant succession challenge in Canada. According to the Business Development Bank of Canada, nearly one in five Canadian businesses will undergo ownership transition within five years, representing over $300 billion in business revenue. Marc Deegan, founder of R33 Ventures, will serve as programme director. The curriculum covers developing investment theses, target evaluation, financial and legal considerations, acquisition financing, and post-acquisition transition. Instructors include transaction professionals, lawyers, tax specialists, investors, and entrepreneurs with acquisition experience. Admission is by application, with no prior M&A experience required.
