Requirements
  • Possess an earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in early childhood education or child development.
  • Alternatively, possess an earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate credit hours in courses closely related to early childhood education and development, with academic preparation appropriate to the course or specialty being taught.
  • Possess professional certification in the field or two years of directly related work experience in early childhood from birth through age 8.
  • Have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction.
  • Meet faculty credentials outlined in ASOM 7.1 for the specific area or areas of instruction.
  • Include a cover letter and an unofficial transcript with the application.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Create a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals.
  • Provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi.
  • Use available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and instructional materials.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other required documentation.
  • Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and contribute to a positive college experience.
  • Develop and implement active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
  • Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including using technology for academic advising alerts.
  • Provide interventions through communication with students, tutoring, academic supports, and referrals to appropriate college resources.
  • Interact with students and coworkers in a professional and cooperative manner while complying with College policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
  • Implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and other learning environments.
