Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in data center, critical facilities, or mission-critical infrastructure operations.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience managing engineering or maintenance teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical distribution systems, uninterruptible power supplies, backup generation, cooling infrastructure, and building management systems.
  • Experience managing contractors, service agreements, and vendor performance.
  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems, data center infrastructure management, and operational reporting tools.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in high-pressure environments.
  • A customer-focused approach with stakeholder management skills.
  • An analytical and data-driven approach to operational performance.
  • Effective communication skills across technical and executive audiences.
  • A high level of accountability, integrity, and commitment to operational excellence.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of critical facility infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, cooling, fire protection, security, and monitoring systems.
  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures, maintenance standards, service level agreements, and uptime commitments.
  • Lead incident response activities, root cause investigations, and corrective action plans for critical events.
  • Manage change control processes and ensure the safe execution of maintenance activities and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Monitor operational performance through key performance indicators, availability metrics, and energy efficiency indicators.
  • Develop and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs for critical assets.
  • Manage relationships with original equipment manufacturers, specialist contractors, and service providers.
  • Oversee asset lifecycle management, warranty tracking, and long-term replacement planning.
  • Ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of computerized maintenance management systems and data center infrastructure management platforms.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop teams of engineers and technicians across multiple shifts.
  • Drive a high-performance culture focused on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Support workforce planning, recruitment, training, and performance management activities.
  • Promote technical excellence and ongoing competency development.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental performance.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, industry standards, and corporate health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Review risk assessments, permit-to-work processes, and operational procedures.
  • Support audits, inspections, certifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the primary operational interface for customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Produce regular operational and performance reports for senior management.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Construction, and Project teams during commissioning, expansion, and fit-out activities.
  • Support customer audits and operational reviews.
Desired Qualifications
  • Data center certifications such as CDCP, CDCE, Uptime Institute AOS, or equivalent.
  • Experience within hyperscale, colocation, or large-scale critical environments.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and energy efficiency frameworks, including LEED, BREEAM, or ISO 50001.
  • Professional fluency in English; Spanish is highly desirable.
