Requirements
  • An MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification in Pathology.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues, the public, and private organizations.
Responsibilities
  • Use innovative teaching methods and apply learning sciences in medical education.
  • Deliver lectures and active teaching sessions for assigned courses.
  • Develop curriculum focused on students’ board preparation and overall professional development.
  • Create and provide detailed course syllabi containing topics and learning objectives for each lecture or learning exercise.
  • Prepare exams and quizzes that test students’ mastery of course content.
  • Complete student assessment activities, including evaluating test questions, performing exam and quiz analysis, and submitting grades.
  • Serve as course director by creating course materials, conducting evaluations, analyzing data, presenting results, and recommending improvements.
  • Provide service to the department and University by serving on committees.
  • Provide student advising and mentoring, including office hours.
  • Engage in research or scholarly activity and continued professional development.
  • Participate in Admissions activities, Commencement, and White Coat ceremonies.
  • Understand and follow accreditation standards, policies, and procedures specific to the department.
  • Conduct research and case studies in an area of interest and potentially publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.
  • Conduct oneself professionally and consistently with the philosophy and mission of Kansas City University.
Desired Qualifications
  • Board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
  • Previous teaching experience, especially in a medical school.
  • Three to five years of practical experience.
