Requirements
  • Sufficient education to obtain a valid California registered nurse license.
  • Six months to one year of experience as a Clinical Registered Nurse I at MarinHealth Medical Center, or the clinical experience identified in the appropriate unit-specific job description addendum.
  • A California registered nurse license is required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required at hire.
  • Integrative Agitation Management certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in all items of the Staff Nurse Skills Criteria at the conclusion of the probationary period.
  • Demonstrated leadership and delegation skills.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work, including time management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members, other teams, physicians, and departments.
  • Ability to read, speak, write, understand, and follow English verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service appropriate to the age-specific criteria of patients served in the assigned service area.
  • Required compliance with measles, mumps, varicella, and annual influenza immunization requirements as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, direct, and appropriately delegate to ensure the delivery of safe, quality patient care.
  • Provide assessment, development, and implementation of the patient care plan.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and modify the care plan as needed.
  • Direct emergency interventions.
  • Collaborate with physicians, team members, and others to optimally manage patient care.
  • Act as a patient advocate when necessary.
  • Formulate nursing diagnoses through observation of the patient's physical condition and behavior and interpretation of information obtained from the patient and health team.
  • Formulate age-specific care plans in collaboration with the patient to provide for safety, comfort, hygiene, protection, disease prevention, and restorative measures.
  • Perform essential nursing skills, explain health treatment to patients and families, and teach patients and families how to address health needs.
  • Evaluate care through observation of physical condition and behavior, signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, and communication with patients and team members.
  • Initiate action to improve health care or change decisions or activities that are against the patient's interests or wishes, and provide the patient an opportunity to make informed health care decisions.
  • Supervise, direct, and delegate appropriately to care team members based on their legal scopes of practice, preparation, and capability, and supervise the nursing care they provide.
  • Serve as a clinical expert, role model, and clinical and educational resource to the team, patients, and families.
  • Mentor and assist in the training and development of less experienced staff members.
  • Demonstrate professional accountability for nursing practice.
