• About the Opportunity

As an Analytics Intern at MVP Health Care, you will be a key contributor supporting business analytics and data-driven decision-making initiatives. Working alongside experienced analysts and business leaders, you will gain hands-on experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to generate meaningful insights that support organizational goals. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop analytical, technical, and professional skills while contributing to projects that help improve healthcare outcomes and operational effectiveness. 

The Risk Adjustment Analyst Intern supports the Risk Adjustment team in analyzing data, monitoring program performance, and assisting with initiatives designed to improve the accuracy and completeness of risk-adjusted documentation and coding. This role provides hands-on experience with healthcare data, reporting, quality metrics, regulatory requirements, and analytical processes within a healthcare environment.

The intern will work closely with analysts, coders, clinicians, and business stakeholders to support ongoing projects and gain exposure to population health management, healthcare analytics, and Medicare, Medicaid, or Commercial risk adjustment programs.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with the collection, validation, and analysis of risk adjustment and healthcare-related data.
• Assist in monitoring risk adjustment performance indicators, coding opportunities, and provider engagement metrics.
• Support the development and maintenance of reports, dashboards, and visualizations using business intelligence tools. 
• Analyze datasets to identify trends, patterns, opportunities, and potential areas for improvement. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and reporting requirements. 
• Perform research and analysis to support strategic business initiatives and operational improvements. 
• Document data sources, methodologies, processes, and analytical findings. 
• Present insights and recommendations to team members and stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. 
• Participate in team meetings, professional development activities, and internship program events. 
• Support ad hoc reporting and analytics projects as assigned. 
• Contribute to MVP's pursuit of excellence by performing additional responsibilities that support organizational objectives and enhance customer experience. 

Skills and Experience

• Education, Licensures, & Certifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Public Health, or related field. 

• Academic standing of Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Graduate Student, or recent graduate. 
  • Years of Experience (Required & Preferred)
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data manipulation techniques.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to translate data into meaningful insights and recommendations.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
