Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in architecture from an accredited four-year college or university is required.
  • Ten years of experience as an architect is required.
  • The candidate must have passed the exam and be certified as a Professional Registered Architect.
  • The candidate must be technically competent to sign and seal construction documents as the architect of record.
  • Experience managing midsize to large projects is required.
  • A Certificate of Licensed Registered Architect is required.
  • The candidate must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
  • The candidate must have close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Windows, Excel, Project, Navisworks or BIM 360, Newforma, Bluebeam, and Word is required.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit building-analysis and energy-modeling software is required.
  • Knowledge of architectural principles and practices, construction techniques, constructability, building codes and standards, sustainable or green strategies, project delivery methods, and the design process is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced professional architectural assignments involving complex architectural tasks, calculations, techniques, procedures, and standards under the supervision of the Director.
  • Make independent decisions on architectural problems and methods, resolve important questions, and coordinate project work.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and help resolve interdisciplinary conflicts.
  • Prepare project-specific construction specifications and administer construction contracts.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Prepare reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, permits, life-safety plans, and other architectural and design documents.
  • Use computer-assisted drafting and design software and equipment to produce architectural drawings and documents.
  • Visit construction sites to review, monitor, and report progress; review shop drawings and requests for information; attend site meetings; prepare architect's supplemental instructions, proposal requests, and status reports in accordance with contract documents.
  • Supervise, coordinate, check, instruct, lead, and mentor staff members as assigned.
  • Check work prepared by drafters, designers, and other architects.
  • Coordinate applicable project-discipline drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare design budgets, marketing proposals, cost estimates, proposals, and agreements for assigned projects.
  • Assist with client contact, project communication, marketing, presentations, and business development.
  • Promote communication, cooperation, quality, and professional representation of the firm.
  • Set and maintain job-specific standards, practices, and quality in accordance with company quality standards and the Discipline Director's initiatives.
  • Forecast workload and resources for assigned projects or the department.
  • Prepare and monitor project budgets and coordinate adjustments with the project manager to maintain profitability.
  • Meet project schedules, timely completion requirements, and quality standards for assigned projects.
  • Deliver at least one technical training session to staff per year in each office.
  • Serve as a project manager or project architect on assigned projects and sign and seal documents as the architect of record.
  • Participate in local, state, and/or national professional organizations.
