Responsibilities
Provide general waste management care of park grounds within an assigned section.
Remove all litter and organic debris from assigned areas.
Close ballfields, playgrounds, landscapes, lawns, and comfort stations within an assigned section.
Empty trash and recycling cans and transport them to collection areas within the Park.
Sweep paths, entrances, bench areas, stairways, the perimeter, and other hard-surface areas.
Install and repair fences as needed and as directed.
Perform snow removal and ice mitigation on paths, entrances, playgrounds, the perimeter, and other hard surfaces using machines and physical labor to provide appropriate access according to organizational standards.
Maintain surface drainage by keeping catch basins free of debris during heavy rain, ice, and snow.
Immediately notify a supervisor of repair needs or safety hazards encountered in the Park or its facilities, and take steps to remedy the issue or secure the area until it can be addressed.
Assist with preparation and cleanup for special events as needed.
Engage frequently and in a friendly, professional manner with members of the public.
Work independently or alongside staff, displaying initiative and dependability.
Open or close playgrounds and water features within playgrounds according to schedule.
Operate various types of equipment, including a utility vehicle.
Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report items requiring repair.
Participate in all trainings and professional development.

About the Central Park Conservancy:
Central Park is one of the world's most famous and beloved public spaces. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in 1858, the 843-acre Park was the country's first purpose-built public park and is a National Historic Landmark and a New York Scenic Landmark. The Central Park Conservancy, a private, not-for-profit organization, was founded in 1980 to rescue the Park, which had fallen into serious disrepair. Since then, the Conservancy has overseen the investment of close to $2 billion in the restoration of the Park, which now hosts over 40 million visitors a year.
The Conservancy’s mission is to preserve and celebrate Central Park as a sanctuary from urban life. The City of New York has formally entrusted the care of the Park to the Conservancy which is responsible for every aspect of its care, including landscape maintenance, capital improvements, and the visitor experience. The Conservancy employs roughly 400 people and has an annual operating budget of $120 million.
The Position
Working under the general supervision of the Foreperson of Park Maintenance, the Park Maintainer in the Park Maintenance Department, provides all manner of custodial care of the park and other features.
Essential Duties
Provide general waste management care of park grounds within an assigned section

Minimum Requirements

Salary range:
Park Maintainer I: $43,500-$47,400 annually commensurate with experience.
Park Maintainer II: $44,500-$52,500 annually commensurate with experience.
