Requirements
  • Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse program.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse in this state.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to read technical procedures and comprehend policy and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of residents.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and be willing to supervise other personnel.
  • Must possess knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to nursing care facilities.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures necessary to provide quality care.
  • Must possess current CPR certification.
  • Must maintain required continuing education and licensing and remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday and push, pull, move, and/or carry at least 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  • Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile people.
  • Must undergo the facility’s required medical and physical examination.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants.
  • Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants and ensure nursing personnel comply with facility policies, procedures, job descriptions, and applicable regulations.
  • Plan shift services, programs, activities, staffing requirements, and work assignments with nursing and support personnel.
  • Review and recommend revisions to department policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions, and nursing procedures.
  • Prepare written and oral shift reports and recommendations and coordinate nursing services with other resident-service departments.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs, facility surveys, discharge planning, and resident admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Complete medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, census reports, charge slips, accident and incident reports, and other required documentation.
  • Receive telephone orders from physicians, transcribe orders to resident records and care documents, and maintain accurate nurses’ notes and medical records.
  • Prepare and administer physician-ordered medications and treatments, verify resident identity, maintain medication supplies and narcotic records, and report discrepancies.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations, determine shift staffing needs, report absences, and recommend personnel actions to the Nurse Supervisor.
  • Provide leadership to assigned nursing personnel, conduct rounds, monitor work assignments, and address complaints, grievances, and problem areas.
  • Inform nursing personnel about admissions, prepare rooms, orient residents and families, make physician rounds, and coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic services.
  • Review charts, treatments, medication orders, diets, and care plans; monitor residents’ physical and emotional status; and ensure care follows resident plans and wishes.
  • Perform nursing services including catheterization, tube feedings, suctioning, dressing changes, colostomy and drainage-bag care, specimen collection, vital-sign measurement, range-of-motion exercises, and care of dying residents.
  • Notify physicians and next of kin of accidents, incidents, or changes in resident condition; arrange discharge transportation; and follow post-mortem procedures.
  • Develop and conduct in-service training, orient new employees, assist with clinical supervision of nurse aide trainees, and participate in continuing education.
  • Monitor safety, sanitation, infection-control, hand-hygiene, personal protective equipment, fire-safety, and disaster-preparedness procedures.
  • Maintain adequate medication, medical-supply, and equipment stock; recommend supply needs; and ensure equipment is safely operated by trained personnel.
  • Review and revise resident care plans, ensure certified nursing assistants follow them, and assist with Minimum Data Set assessments and Resident Assessment Protocols.
  • Report suspected fraud, hazardous conditions, unauthorized system access, privacy violations, and occupational exposures according to facility procedures.

PACS Group acquires Alaska care facility, plans 150-bed skilled nursing centre by 2028

PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. He previously held CFO roles at Capital Senior Living Corporation, managing 128 communities across 23 states, and Belo Corp. PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Hancock co-founded PACS in 2013 with Jason Murray, starting with two post-acute care facilities in San Diego. Under his leadership, the company expanded to 323 facilities across 17 states, serving over 31,700 patients daily and generating $5.29 billion in revenue in 2025, representing 29.3% year-on-year growth. PACS Group, a leading post-acute healthcare platform, has appointed Dr Patrick Conway to its board of directors. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion.
