Requirements
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools, or another recognized regional or national accreditation board, or equivalent.
  • Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified designation, or ability to achieve this designation within six months of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
  • A valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider CPR card.
Responsibilities
  • Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records.
  • Perform injections.
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms.
  • Submit medication prior authorizations.
  • Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report them to the provider.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, patients’ families, and providers.
  • Assist providers with procedures and medical exams.
  • Perform point-of-care testing and report abnormal laboratory values.
  • Assist in transporting patients as required.
