- Manage a varied caseload of wet shipping disputes and marine liability claims.
- Handle litigated and pre-litigated matters ranging from small claims track cases to complex multi-track litigation.
- Advise insurers, P&I Clubs, shipowners, charterers, operators and other maritime stakeholders on liability, quantum and coverage issues.
- Manage employers' liability, public liability, catastrophic injury, occupational disease and recovery claims arising from marine incidents.
- Assist with marine casualty investigations, inquests and regulatory matters.
- Support partners on complex, high-value, multi-jurisdictional shipping and marine insurance disputes.
- Engage with experts, witnesses and counsel to develop case strategy and achieve successful outcomes for clients.
- Contribute to business development initiatives and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Exposure to marine liability, shipping, transport or insurance-related disputes would be advantageous.
- Experience dealing with recovery actions, occupational disease claims, inquests or casualty-related matters would be beneficial.

Clyde & Co boosts Bristol energy transition offerings. A former Freeths lawyer specialising in the construction and delivery of renewable energy projects has jumped to Clyde & Co. Clyde & Co has continued its investment in its energy transition capabilities with the hire of Suriya Ashok as a partner in its energy, projects and construction practice, effective 15 September. Ashok joins the firm's Bristol office from Freeths, where she has spent the past two years as a partner in its construction and engineering team. With more than 15 years' experience, Ashok's work is focused on the construction and delivery of renewable energy projects, with particular expertise in solar energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and broader energy transition infrastructure. Her clients include owners and operators, funders, utility companies and waste operators. Ashok advises clients on complex engineering and construction contracts, maintenance and operation contracts, security documentation and appointments, with experience working across the full lifecycle of energy projects. She is particularly known for her work in UK and European utility-scale battery projects. Clyde & Co's energy and construction co-head Steve Cannon said the firm has seen "significant demand for specialist legal advice across the construction and projects sector" as the energy transition continues. "Suriya brings a combination of deep technical construction expertise, strong commercial judgement and a proven ability to build trusted client relationships in the renewable energy market," Cannon continued. "Her expertise in battery storage and wider clean energy infrastructure will strengthen our energy, projects and construction practice as we continue to support clients navigating increasingly complex energy transition projects." Ashok began her legal career with a five-year stint at Trowers & Hamlins, before departing for Withers in 2014. She later went on to practise at Geldards and Foot Anstey before arriving at Freeths in 2023. On her new role, she said: "Joining Clyde & Co's energy, projects and construction team provides a strong platform to collaborate with colleagues across the firm's international network and support clients on complex energy transition projects." Last month, Clyde & Co strengthened its London-based insurance offerings with the appointment of former DAC Beachcroft lawyer Jack Holling as partner.
Tim Lennox joins Clyde & Co in Glasgow. 25 Aug 2026 Reading time: 2 minutes Clyde & Co has appointed Tim Lennox as a legal director in its Glasgow catastrophic injury and large loss (CILL) team. He joins from Kennedys, where he worked for almost 10 years, most recently as a legal director. With more than 12 years' post-qualification experience in civil litigation, he has a particular focus on defender insurance litigation, including personal injury and property damage claims. He regularly advises on high-value and complex injury claims, including catastrophic injury and fatal damages in motor, employer' liability and public liability. Vikki Melville, managing partner for Clyde & Co in Scotland, said: "Tim is a highly experienced defender insurance litigator and we are very pleased to welcome him to the firm. His expertise in complex injury claims, combined with his strong understanding of the Scottish insurance market, will further enhance the support we provide to clients in Scotland and across the UK." Clyde & Co captures insurance partner in London. The firm continues growth of London-based insurance team with DAC Beachcroft partner hire. Insurance lawyer Jack Holling has departed DAC Beachcroft after a seven-year tenure to join Clyde & Co's London office as a partner in its financial lines team. Announcing the hire yesterday (4 August), Clyde & Co said Holling's arrival would bolster the firm's insurance coverage capabilities and expand its strategic focus on emerging and complex risks. Holling has almost 20 years' experience advising London-based market insurers on high-value and cross-border coverage disputes. He is particularly known for his work in warranty and indemnity (W&I) insurance, with experience guiding insurers and managing general agents (MGAs) on claims arising from mergers and acquisitions transactions. His practice also covers cyber coverage matters and financial lines policies, including directors and officers, financial institutions and professional indemnity risks. "Clyde & Co has an outstanding reputation in the global insurance market and an unparalleled track record in handling the insurance market's most challenging issues," said Holling in a statement. "The firm's depth of expertise, international reach and collaborative culture make it the ideal environment to continue developing my practice, particularly in W&I and cyber insurance." Holling joined DAC Beachcroft in 2019 and made partner three years later. Prior to this, he spent six years at Norton Rose Fulbright. The news of Holling's hire came hot on the heels of the 3 August announcement that commercial disputes lawyer Andrew Pullinger had joined the firm's Perth office as partner in a boost to its disputes capabilities in Australia.
