Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in environmental science or a related discipline is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience contributing to progressively complex project implementation in an environmental science-focused organization is required; higher education experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and collaborating with senior leadership is required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including grammar, spelling, and composition, are required.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with courtesy, professionalism, diplomacy, and efficiency in a high-profile environment, are required.
  • Analytical ability and demonstrated experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting data from sustainability functional areas are required.
  • The ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple independent tasks is required.
  • Proficiency with standard office productivity software, including Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite, is required.
  • The ability to compose clear and compelling presentations and correspondence using PowerPoint, Google Slides, Canva, Prezi, or other presentation programs is required.
  • The ability to work with evolving technologies to enhance team productivity is required.
Responsibilities
  • Support the ongoing optimization of Georgetown University's Zero Waste initiatives at the Hilltop and Capitol Campuses.
  • Support efforts to achieve Georgetown's sustainability strategic plan through special projects.
  • Interact with faculty, staff, unionized employees, students, senior leadership, neighbors, external partners, vendors, and government agencies to implement strategic initiatives and drive behavior change.
  • Support initiatives and projects that advance the university's zero waste performance targets and overall sustainability goals.
  • Assist the Manager, Administration and Analysis in convening and facilitating cross-functional teams working toward the university's sustainability goals.
  • Work between the Office of Sustainability and Planning, Facilities, and Management to align programming and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Interact with university stakeholders and provide guidance and educational training on sustainability-related matters.
  • Support the Manager, Administration and Analysis with data collection and analysis from internal partners for internal and external reporting purposes.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education.
  • A TRUE Zero Waste Advisor credential and/or LEED Green Associate credential or another relevant sustainability credential.
  • Being extremely organized, flexible, and creative, and able to work with a variety of personalities and constituencies.
