Requirements
  • At least two years of advanced life support experience.
  • A state EMT-P license.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
  • A valid driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and the ability to safely operate a vehicle in daytime, nighttime, and inclement weather.
Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care during transport under the direction of the Program Medical Director and referring or receiving physician, following critical care policies, protocols, and standards of care.
  • Autonomously evaluate critically ill or injured patients of all age groups, provide therapeutic and emergency interventions, and prepare patients for transport by ground or helicopter from hospitals or accident scenes.
  • Collaborate with drivers, coworkers, leadership, healthcare partners, and customers.
  • Assess and detect changes in patient status and proactively address patient and family problems.
  • Plan, organize, and position equipment and supplies for emergency use before, during, and after transport.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records, participate in quality assurance programs, collect data, and participate in special projects.
  • Maintain clinical proficiency across the Critical Care Division's scope of practice, including neurological, cardiac, pediatric, obstetrical, and traumatic emergencies and other transported patient populations.
  • Perform the physical requirements of the job in confined spaces and adverse environmental conditions.
  • Complete transports initiated during the scheduled shift, understanding that transport completion may extend beyond normal work hours.
  • Participate in required didactic, clinical, and laboratory education programs and maintain required certifications and licenses.
  • Maintain clinical competency in critical care procedures and equipment, including ventilators, intravenous pumps, dopplers, chest tubes, hemodynamic monitoring, intra-aortic balloon pumps, ventricular assist devices, Impella cardiac assist devices, transcutaneous and transvenous pacers, external ventricular drains, and advanced airway management.
  • Maintain current safety education as required by Superior Ambulance, contracted aviation operators, and other healthcare partners.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, including patients and families, hospital staff, the community, Superior Ambulance staff, and Critical Care administration, and represent the CCT program and Superior Ambulance professionally.
Desired Qualifications
  • National Registry Paramedic.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, and trauma certifications (Prehospital Trauma Life Support or International Trauma Life Support).
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency certifications (100, 200, 700, 800, and HazMat).
  • CCEMTP certification or completion of a Critical Care Paramedic course with 12 hours of Critical Care Transport continuing education annually.
  • Critical Care Transport board certification (FP-C or CCP-C).
  • Experience managing ventilators, intravenous pumps, and chest tubes.
  • Leadership experience, such as field training officer, person in charge, preceptor, or supervisor.
