Checkout.com begins rolling out Visa Payment Passkey to merchants.

Checkout.com begins rolling out Visa Payment Passkey to merchants. Eligible merchants can add passkey checks through their existing Checkout.com integration, and payments fall back to current verification methods when a passkey is unavailable. Get the hottest Fintech Switzerland News once a month in your Inbox Checkout.com now supports Visa Payment Passkey, offering its merchants a new method to authenticate online card payments. With the passkey, shoppers confirm a purchase using their device unlock method, such as a fingerprint or face scan, rather than a one-time passcode (OTP). Authentication is essential to securing online payments, yet additional verification steps can cost merchants sales. According to Checkout.com, replacing OTPs with a passkey reduces friction at checkout while maintaining strong security. Eligible merchants can offer the passkey through the authentication infrastructure they already use, so no new checkout flow is required. When passkey authentication is unavailable, the transaction proceeds with existing verification methods. The rollout will take place in phases, beginning with selected merchants across the UK and Europe. The passkey supports both first-time and returning customers. Checkout.com noted that it is particularly relevant for businesses with frequent repeat purchases, including retailers, marketplaces, food delivery platforms and digital services. The company views strong, user-friendly authentication as a foundation for the next phase of digital commerce. As AI agents initiate more purchases, trusted ways to verify the person behind a payment and their purchase intent become more important. In addition, Checkout.com is supporting Visa's Trusted Agent Protocol, which helps merchants distinguish trusted AI shopping agents from bots and malicious traffic. "Visa Payment Passkey lets returning shoppers authenticate the way they already unlock their phone, making checkout both safer and simpler," said Rami Josef, Senior Product Director at Checkout.com. "By bringing Visa Payment Passkey to Checkout.com's merchants, we're making it easier for businesses to reduce friction at checkout and for consumers to authenticate securely," said Mathieu Altwegg, Head of Product and Solutions at Visa. Checkout.com partners with Dubai proptech PRYPCO to power payments.

Checkout.com partners with Dubai proptech PRYPCO to power payments. Investors using PRYPCO's property platforms can fund and withdraw from their accounts with near-instant access through Checkout.com's global payouts service. Get the hottest Fintech Middle East News once a month in your Inbox Checkout.com has partnered with PRYPCO, a Dubai-based real estate investment and ownership platform, to power its payment infrastructure. According to the two companies, PRYPCO's payment acceptance rates have increased by 20% since the integration went live in July. The partnership now includes payment processing for PRYPCO Mint, a platform that represents real estate ownership as digital tokens on a blockchain. As part of the partnership, PRYPCO has integrated Checkout.com's acquiring and processing technology into PRYPCO Blocks, its fractional property investment platform. The integration is designed to support higher transaction volumes, including periods of high demand around new property launches. PRYPCO selected Checkout.com for its direct acquiring capabilities, as its customers carry out high-value transactions daily that require both speed and security. The setup includes network tokenisation, which replaces card details with unique digital identifiers. This approach aims to protect customer data and reduce false declines, which occur when legitimate payments are rejected in error. Customers can also fund and withdraw from their accounts with near-instant access through Checkout.com's global payouts service. "Our partnership with Checkout.com helps us handle those peaks with fast, secure payments, giving more customers a smooth experience when they're ready to invest," said Essa Ibrahim, Co-founder and President at PRYPCO. "At Checkout.com, we are committed to working with our partners across diverse sectors to strengthen digital payments in the region," said Remo Giovanni Abbondandolo, General Manager for MENA at Checkout.com. Beyond property investment, PRYPCO provides digital mortgages, gold investment, and Golden Visa and will services in the UAE. The company states that it has facilitated real estate transactions worth over AED20 billion for more than 110,000 customers.

Checkout.com expands into in-person payments.

Checkout.com expands into in-person payments. Checkout.com moves into physical stores, offering merchants a unified way to manage online and in-person payment data. Curated by Financing Your Way from original reporting by Finextra - Lending. Summary is AI-assisted and editorially reviewed - see its editorial standards. Checkout.com is moving beyond the digital world and launching in-person payment solutions for brick-and-mortar retailers. For business owners, this means the potential to bridge the gap between how you take payments online and how you handle them at the physical register. The goal is to provide a unified view of your customers, regardless of where they choose to shop. This expansion is designed to solve a major headache for omnichannel merchants: fragmented data. When your online and in-store payment processors are different, it is nearly impossible to track a single customer's journey accurately. By using a single provider for both, you can offer more flexible shopping experiences, such as buying online and returning in-store (BORIS) or simple cross-channel loyalty rewards. The system is built to integrate with existing POS systems, meaning you might not need a total hardware overhaul to gain better data visibility. For retailers focused on high-growth or high-volume sales, this move signals a shift toward more resilient, cloud-based payment infrastructure in the physical lane. Who else is covering this
