Requirements
  • Possession of a current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health; the CNA certificate must be issued by California DPH.
  • Possession of a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate is required for some positions.
  • Possession of a Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT-1) certificate, issued by the State of California Department of Health Services, is required for those positions that perform phlebotomy.
  • To qualify for these positions, your CNA certificate MUST be issued by the California Department of Public Health (DPH).
  • A valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate is required as a provision to employment for all positions; must be obtained within two weeks of hire if not already possessed.
Responsibilities
  • Under direct supervision, and as part of the treatment team, provides routine patient care in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards.
  • Establishes and maintains a therapeutic and/or medical relationship with patients.
  • Reviews patient's admission documentation and notes pertinent facts regarding diagnoses and treatment history; documents care according to department standards.
  • Maintains constant and continuous communication with medical providers and staff.
  • Reviews and implements treatment plans and provides one-to-one care when essential to treatment plans, as directed by licensed staff.
  • Observes, records and reports patient medical, social and psychiatric behavior and physical conditions.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning by reporting observations and concerns and by asking questions.
  • Attends and participates in patient groups, case conferences, staff meetings and in-service training programs.
  • Completes procedures and specimen collection including phlebotomy as assigned.
  • Adheres to health, safety, and infection control policy and resource utilization.
  • Manages work time effectively, efficiently and productively.
  • The Certified Nursing Assistant may perform other duties as assigned/required.
