Microsoft speeds up Windows 11 on 8GB PCs by up to 40% as RAM prices climb

Microsoft is improving how Windows 11 runs on PCs with 8GB of RAM, as memory prices keep rising. The company says low-end machines will be up to 20% more responsive and 40% faster at multitasking. Windows will keep up to 2GB more active data in memory before moving it to slower storage. Edge will launch up to 33% faster when already running in the background, and Widgets will load only when used. Edge tabs will sleep after 15 minutes instead of two hours. The move follows weak Windows sales. In its fiscal first quarter of 2027, Microsoft's adjusted earnings rose 18% to $36.4 billion, but Windows OEM and devices revenue fell 22%. The changes are in 26H2, build 26300.9818 or later.

Ontinue launches MXDR Essentials for 24/7 managed security on Microsoft Defender

Ontinue, a managed extended detection and response (MXDR) provider, has launched MXDR Essentials, a service that extends Microsoft's Integrated Security Operations Center (ISOC) into 24/7 managed security operations. The Zürich-based company announced the product on November 3, 2026. The service gives continuous investigation and response across the Microsoft Defender suite. It targets organisations that need round-the-clock protection but do not yet need the broader visibility of a full MXDR service. Ontinue's agentic AI, automation and 24/7 Cyber Defense Center power the service. Customers can move to Ontinue MXDR Core for Microsoft Sentinel management, tailored detections and proactive threat hunting, without changing partners. "Security operations shouldn't be an all-or-nothing decision," said chief executive officer Moritz Mann. Ontinue also introduced a Microsoft ISOC Deployment Package to help customers configure telemetry, integrations and automation.

Hyland launches Microsoft Teams integration to keep OnBase and Nuxeo content governed

Hyland has launched Hyland for Microsoft Teams, an integration that lets users search, view, manage, share, and capture governed content without leaving Teams. It connects Teams to supported OnBase and Nuxeo repositories. The aim is to curb content sprawl, duplicate storage, and governance gaps that arise when documents end up scattered across chats and channels. Content shared in Teams can be imported into Hyland repositories for retention and governance. Administrators set up the integration through the Hyland Content Innovation Cloud. It requires no migration, duplicate repositories, or rebuilt workflows. Targeting regulated industries such as banking, insurance, and HR, the integration is available now to existing Hyland customers that use Teams as their main collaboration workspace.

Microsoft vs Accenture: why cloud growth and 40.3% margins favour Microsoft for 2027

A Motley Fool analyst favours Microsoft over Accenture as the better technology stock for 2027, arguing that Microsoft's cloud is where companies run their AI. In fiscal 2026, Microsoft reported revenue of about $331.8 billion and net income of $133.7 billion, a net margin of roughly 40.3%. Accenture's revenue was nearly $74.2 billion, up 6.5%, with net income of $8.4 billion. Accenture is cheaper, with a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 17.6x against Microsoft's 26.1x. Microsoft's cloud revenue growth rose to 30% in fiscal Q1 2027, though AI data centre costs weigh on free cash flow. The analyst expects Accenture's sales to grow only modestly in fiscal 2027.
