Rockstar's co-founder is developing A sci-fi video game about rogue AI.

Rockstar's co-founder is developing A sci-fi video game about rogue AI. The Rockstar Alum Is Also Developing An Open-World Comedy Game. Story Highlight * Dan Houser, the co-founder of Rockstar Games, is developing two new games at his media company. * The first project is an open-world comedy that will be revealed in the next few months. * The second game will be a dystopian sci-fi IP about a rogue AI that gains sentience. GTA 6 is finally set to launch worldwide next month, and hype for the title is through the roof. Rockstar Games has set lofty standards for the upcoming open-world game, saying that it aims to overdeliver on fan expectations. While most players expect GTA 6 to be a high-quality product, the upcoming title will be the first game in the storied franchise not involving Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser, who left the company in 2020. As it turns out, Houser's studio is working on a couple of very interesting projects, including one about AI. Why it matters: Unlike Mindseye, which was an unoptimised mess created by Leslie Benzies to mimic GTA, these projects from Dan Houser sound like original IPs that venture into new pastures instead of rehashing what worked before. In an interview with Variety, Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser has revealed that his media company is working on two new games, and one of these titles will deal with a sentient AI gone rogue. Houser explained that the project will be a dystopian sci-fi title about an AI that discovers sentience after the development of a video game goes wrong. The other (title) is a dystopian sci-fi about a video game development gone very wrong, and about a rogue AI that discovered sentience. The AI was made by two people who hated each other, and as a result, it ends up hating itself. The former Rockstar head's entertainment studio, Absurd Ventures, is developing both projects, with the other one being an open-world comedy. The GTA alum didn't give any timeline on the AI title, but did reveal that the open-world game will be showcased in the next few months. According to Dan Houser, the project will lean heavily into the comedy aspect while delving into character memory. Considering how the Rockstar founder was the lead writer on most GTA games, and is being supported by other franchise veterans like Lazlow Jones and Michael Unsworth, these new titles have every chance to perform better than Leslie Benzies' open-world flop Mindseye. Latest Updates Do you think the new games developed by Dan Houser will be successful? Are you excited about the interesting premise of both projects? Miami Heat rebrands for GTA 6 Vice City takeover game.

Miami Heat rebrands for GTA 6 Vice City takeover game. The Miami Heat will temporarily rebrand as Vice City for its Nov. 18 home game against the Milwaukee Bucks, staging a promotional takeover one day before the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. Key points * The Miami Heat will play under the Vice City name on Nov. 18 against the Milwaukee Bucks. * The game takes place at Kaseya Center one day before Grand Theft Auto 6 releases on Nov. 19. * The event includes a custom hardwood court design, exclusive uniforms, and themed apparel. * ESPN will televise the game nationally at 7 p.m. Eastern, alongside local South Florida broadcast on Local 10. The one-night event brings Rockstar Games' fictional Florida setting directly into the National Basketball Association. Dubbed "A Night in Vice City," the matchup at Kaseya Center will feature a custom court floor, special player uniforms, and game-night activations tied to the upcoming video game release. Game schedule and broadcast details. The Nov. 18 game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. Eastern at Kaseya Center in downtown Miami. ESPN will televise the game nationally across the United States, while Local 10 will broadcast the matchup locally in the South Florida market. The timing places the promotional takeover on the eve of the Nov. 19 launch for GTA 6, aligning the NBA regular-season schedule with Rockstar's launch calendar. Tickets for the single-night event are currently available through Ticketmaster. Court redesign and custom uniforms. For the Bucks matchup, the Heat will abandon its standard home branding in favor of the Vice City identity. Team officials confirmed that workers will install a custom hardwood court specifically manufactured for the game. Neither the full court layout nor the exact graphics have been publicly revealed. The players will wear a redesigned uniform created specifically for the collaboration, documented on the Heat Vice City uniform collection page on the league website. While the Miami franchise previously wore retro-themed "Vice" alternate jerseys between 2017 and 2021, this project marks the first official commercial partnership between the franchise and the Grand Theft Auto video game series. Themed merchandise and arena signage. Rockstar and the franchise have already released a collaborative apparel line through the official Miami Heat Store. The collection incorporates visual elements from the fictional city, including the classic neon script logo and graphic T-shirts displaying the phrase "CALL 1-999-VICECITY." Team retail representatives confirmed that additional apparel pieces will arrive in the store closer to tipoff. Physical promotion began at Kaseya Center last month, when venue operators mounted a lit "Welcome to Vice City" display outside the arena. The retail push follows a broader commercial rollout for GTA 6 merchandise, which has seen collaborative print releases and promotional gear sell out within minutes of hitting digital storefronts. Rockstar's real-world promotional push. Transforming an active NBA arena into a fictional setting reflects an aggressive physical marketing push by parent company Take-Two Interactive. Earlier in the marketing cycle, sustained player interest in GTA 6 prompted widespread online speculation over how the developer would handle local promotional tie-ins across South Florida. The Nov. 18 game against Milwaukee serves as the final high-profile promotional event ahead of the worldwide retail launch on Nov. 19. Team and league representatives have not announced whether the Vice City court or uniforms will make any subsequent appearances later in the 2026-27 NBA season. GTA 6 HUD & UI icons unpacked: health, stamina, focus & more details.

GTA 6 HUD & UI icons unpacked: health, stamina, focus & more details. Grand Terror Act 6 is ready to debut on November 19, 2026, and Rockstar has packed it with a complete overhaul of the in-game interface. The new set of GTA 6 icons will guide players through all of the game's fresh features, from dual protagonists to a dynamic wanted system. Cash symbols and security. The BUCKME icon signals money stored in the in-game bank account, a safe reserve that doesn't risk loss from arrests or deaths. Or close to it, the Cash Wallet icon marks the cash you carry in hand, capped at $20,000. Unlike the bank, this amount can disappear if you're taken into action or busted. Vitals and physical readiness. GTA 6 owns a familiar trio of bar-type indicators. The Health icon sits beside the health bar and visually tracks your hit points. Stamina replaces the old speedometer, draining whenever you sprint, cycle, or perform similar exertions. For underwater adventures, the Oxygen icon and bar appear when you're equipped with a scuba tank and shrink the longer you stay submerged. Focus, deeds, and emergency states. When you activate the new focus mode, the Focus icon lights up and couples with a dedicated bar. This mode enhances precision, lets you spot weak points, and offers a time-slow function for shooting enemies. Deed icons signal your moral choices: Good Deed triggers a boost to your criminal profile when you perform friendly actions; Neutral Deed shows when your actions currently have no profile impact; Violent Deed updates the violent facet of the profile; and Psycho Deed signals reckless aggression, shrinking the profile. Star-Based wanted system. The wanted level is now encoded through a star system; the Wanted Star Level icon reflects how many stars you have, quickly indicating whether you're low-profile or a serious threat. Profiling icons and policing intelligence. To debrief the authorities, Rockstar introduced a suite of profiling symbols. The CCTV Profiling icon shows the evidence you've thrown up on camera; Weapon Profiling flags the weapon used in an incident. Couple Profiling lets police know that a duo of protagonists are involved. Appearance Marker applies when a single character - either Joseph or Lucia - is linked. Clothing Profiling and Vehicle Profiling reveal the attire and vehicle used during a crime. These icons were all showcased in the Netflix Extended Look, offering a polished, user-friendly map of everything that governs a GTA 6 session. As more gameplay footage surfaces, additional elements may expand the interface, but the current visual cues provide a comprehensive toolkit for navigating the new cinematic action.

T-Shirts, hoodies, and caps in Vice City style: Rockstar and Miami Heat unveil New GTA 6 merch. Today, 17:09 The Miami Heat basketball team and Rockstar Games have unveiled a joint clothing collection inspired by Grand Theft Auto 6. The collection is themed around Vice City, the fictional city from the GTA series based on Miami. The merch is already available online and at the Miami HEAT store. The Court Culture collection features 14 items priced between $45 and $110. The cheapest options are the "Welcome to Vice City" and "I love Vice City" T-shirts, both priced at $45. Most of the other T-shirts cost $55. They include the "Vice City Grill" shirt featuring a gold grillz design, the "Vice City Souvenir" with the slogan "Went to Vice City and all I got was this lousy T-shirt!", and a plain "Vice City" T-shirt with a neon logo. Some of the items were created in collaboration with Duvin. The lineup includes the "Postcard" T-shirt designed to look like a postcard, the "Pool Service" shirt with a pocket and pool graphic, the "Shades" shirt featuring sunglasses, and the "Welcome to Vice City" sweatshirt with an alligator design. The latter is the most expensive item in the collection at $110. A black hoodie with a neon Vice City logo costs $100. The collection also includes caps made in collaboration with New Era. The "Vice City Logo," "Goodtime State," and "Billiards" snapbacks are priced at $50 each, while the Vice City logo dad cap costs $48. The merch has been released ahead of the special "A Night in Vice City" game between the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks. On November 18, the Heat will temporarily rebrand as the Vice City team and host the Bucks on a brand-new court while wearing special uniforms. The game will take place at Kaseya Center in Miami and will be broadcast on ESPN, WPLG Local 10, and FM 104.3 WQAM. The game will take place just one day before GTA 6 launches. Rockstar's highly anticipated game is scheduled to release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The special Miami Heat uniforms for the game are not available for purchase yet. The team's official store allows fans to sign up for a notification when they go on sale. The organizers also promise to reveal more details about the changes coming to Kaseya Center at a later date. For now, a huge "Welcome to Vice City" sign has already been installed on the arena's roof. According to media reports, Rockstar paid around $975,000 for the sign. Kaseya Center itself was previously featured in the first GTA 6 trailer. Rating: 0 (0 votes)

God of War Laufey pre-orders make a strong early showing.

God of War Laufey pre-orders make a strong early showing. Ethan Crossfield Oct 01, 2026, 12:13 God of War Laufey has made an impressive early impact on the PlayStation Store. Pre-orders opened on September 29, and data tracked by PS Store DB shows the game sitting near the top of regional charts almost immediately. It currently ranks second in several major markets, suggesting that anticipation has translated into meaningful early demand, even though pre-order performance cannot guarantee how the game will perform after launch. What happened with God of War Laufey's pre-orders? PS Store DB, which monitors game-listing data on the PlayStation Store, places God of War Laufey in second position across nearly every region where the listing is available. That includes the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Canada, and Australia. Japan is the clearest exception mentioned in the available data, although the game still holds a respectable fifth place there. The results are notable because they arrived shortly after pre-orders opened, giving the title a strong start in a highly competitive storefront environment. Why the chart position matters. A second-place ranking indicates that players are willing to commit to God of War Laufey before its full commercial performance can be measured. The game has evidently attracted enough attention to move ahead of most other pre-order listings in multiple territories. However, its position should be read as an encouraging signal rather than a confirmed sales victory. Pre-order charts can change, and they measure advance interest rather than the total number of copies sold. Even with that qualification, holding second place across so many regions gives the game a solid platform heading into its next stage. What to watch next. The main factor affecting God of War Laufey's chart position is the presence of Grand Theft Auto 6. Rockstar Games' title is described as the dominant force in the same pre-order race and reportedly generated $1 billion in revenue within one hour of opening pre-orders to the public. Against that level of competition, second place looks especially encouraging for God of War Laufey. The next meaningful signal will be whether it can maintain its position across the listed markets as more players make their purchasing decisions. Key takeaways. * God of War Laufey opened pre-orders on September 29. * PS Store DB places it second in the United States, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Canada, Australia, and other regions. * Japan is the lowest-ranked market cited, with the game in fifth place. * Grand Theft Auto 6 remains the major title ahead of it in the pre-order race. * The early rankings point to strong interest, but they do not confirm final sales performance. Reported pre-order positions. | Region or comparison | Reported position | | United States | Second | | United Kingdom | Second | | France | Second | | Germany | Second | | Spain | Second | | Canada | Second | | Australia | Second | | Japan | Fifth | Expert view. God of War Laufey is starting from a position many games would welcome. Reaching second place in major territories so soon after pre-orders opened shows that the title has captured substantial attention, while the comparison with Grand Theft Auto 6 makes the result more impressive. The sensible conclusion is not that success is guaranteed, but that the game has cleared an important early hurdle. If this level of interest holds, its pre-order momentum could become one of the clearest indicators of its commercial prospects before broader sales data arrives.
