Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Medical Assistant certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire; Basic Life Support through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some Pennsylvania practice locations.
  • For New Jersey positions, graduation from an accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program is required, including at least 330 hours of instruction and training in intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds, with frequent sitting, standing, and keyboard use; patient care providers may also need to kneel, bend, squat, and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians as they assess, examine, and treat patients.
  • Manage patient flow and escort patients to examination rooms while ensuring proper patient identification.
  • Perform and document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
  • Remain proficient in information technology systems and their documentation requirements within the established scope of practice.
  • Assist physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures, including electrocardiograms, venipuncture, and injections, using appropriate clinical skills.
  • Act as a liaison to physicians to support patient satisfaction.
  • Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
  • Order clinical supplies, maintain inventory, and facilitate smooth office operations.
