Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school offering an advanced degree in nurse practice.
  • Hold a current, unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Hold current board certification in a relevant specialty.
  • Hold a current unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration certificate.
  • Have knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Have thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Have effective verbal and written communication skills and proper telephone etiquette.
  • Be able to relate to patients, their families, and healthcare team members in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Have a minimum of three years of related registered nurse work experience.
  • Be able to provide medical services within the scope of licensing and training.
  • Hold Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
Responsibilities
  • Provide care to hospital intensive care unit patients and perform delegated medical tasks under the general supervision of a physician, using established and approved protocols.
  • Conduct comprehensive histories and physical examinations, perform diagnostic reasoning, order and interpret diagnostic tests, perform invasive procedures, and write prescriptions.
  • Collaborate with patients, family members, and healthcare team members to review plans of care and achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Educate patients about procedures, treatment protocols, wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials and resources.
  • Document all services and orders in patients' electronic medical records.
  • Participate in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs.
  • Assist with resolving complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients and their families.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least one year of related Nurse Practitioner experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
