About the job

Requirements
  • A degree or career in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Electrical Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least eight years of experience in industrial electrical infrastructure, preferably in manufacturing plants, including prior coordination, technical leadership, or supervision of teams and contractors.
  • Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining electrical service entrances, medium- and low-voltage systems, substations, transformers, power circuit breakers, main and branch panels, solar panels, motor control centers, feeders, protection systems, grounding, and backup systems.
  • Substantial experience as an Electrical Safety lead, including arc-flash and electric-shock risk assessments, approach boundaries, labeling, electrical work permits, lockout/tagout, absence-of-voltage verification, electrical personal protective equipment selection, and supervision of electrical work.
  • Experience planning and supervising preventive and corrective electrical maintenance, including thermography, electrical testing, transformer maintenance, protection systems, insulation testing, power-quality testing, outages, scheduled shutdowns, and contingency response.
  • Experience leading root cause analysis and investigations of electrical failures, supply interruptions, and electrical-energy incidents.
  • Experience developing capital electrical projects, including load analysis, power-source selection, route definition, conductor calculations, protection selection, statements of work, budget estimates, installation supervision, and final release.
  • Experience developing formats and leading root cause analyses for failures, trips, electrical interruptions, unsafe conditions, and electrical-energy incidents.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NFPA 70, NOM-001-SEDE, and NOM-029-STPS standards.
  • Desirable specialization or certifications in Electrical Safety, arc flash, power systems, industrial maintenance, project management, energy management, or electrical risk analysis.
Responsibilities
  • Technically administer the plant's electrical infrastructure, including the service entrance, medium- and low-voltage systems, substations, transformers, main and branch panels, feeders, busways, grounding systems, emergency generators, and uninterruptible power supply systems.
  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance programs, scheduled shutdowns, and contingency plans to ensure operational continuity, control asset deterioration, and reduce unplanned interruptions.
  • Lead the plant's Electrical Safety program and ensure compliance with requirements for arc flash, electric-shock risk, approach boundaries, lockout/tagout, work permits, absence-of-voltage verification, insulated tools, and electrical personal protective equipment selection.
  • Verify that employees and contractors have required controls before work begins, and stop work that presents a risk or violates requirements.
  • Lead electrical infrastructure projects from identifying the need through commissioning, including capacity analysis, selecting the power-feed point, defining routes, conductor sizes, conduits, protection, uninterruptible power supply systems, and capacity for future expansion.
  • Perform or oversee calculations for loads, installed capacity, demand, conductor selection, voltage drop, routes, conduits, short-circuit levels, protection coordination, and selectivity.
  • Prepare statements of work, technical specifications, operating and capital expenditure budgets, technical-economic comparisons, and schedules; track safety, scope, cost, quality, progress, changes, testing, as-built drawings, and final release.
  • Plan and supervise electrical maintenance, outages, tests, thermography, inspections, contingency response, and specialized work performed by internal technicians or contractors; ensure safe conditions and compliance with work methods, risk analyses, permits, and acceptance criteria.
  • Define technical scopes, work methods, risk analyses, permits, and acceptance criteria; verify installations are tested, identified, documented, reflected in updated drawings, and formally released before operation.
  • Lead investigations of failures, trips, interruptions, incidents, and unsafe electrical conditions using standardized root cause analysis formats; document evidence, timelines, failure mechanisms, contributing causes, and corrective actions.
  • Track action owners and due dates, verify corrective-action effectiveness, and apply lessons learned to procedures, designs, maintenance plans, critical spare parts, training, and Electrical Safety standards.

About the company

Bosch Home Comfort makes heating, cooling and hot-water equipment for homes, commercial buildings and industrial users. Its portfolio combines electric heat pumps with gas-fired boilers and hybrid systems, giving customers different ways to control building temperatures and supply hot water. The business sells equipment through its brands' sales networks, with products adapted to regional building needs and energy requirements. Its inverter-driven heat pumps adjust compressor output to match demand rather than running constantly at full power. The Bosch business unit was formed through the merger of Bosch and Buderus heating activities in 2004 and is headquartered in Wetzlar, Germany.

What believers are saying

  • Heat-pump researchers gain human-factors experience: Bosch's Wernau team tests how concealed fans change perceived noise.
  • Retrofits expand the addressable market: Bosch's IDS Ultra fits most existing air-to-air systems.
  • Investment funds technical work: February 2026 reporting puts Bosch Home Comfort's 2025 investment near €200 million.

What critics are saying

  • Demand remains cyclical: Bosch's February 2026 report says Germany's heating market shrank 14% in 2025.
  • Sales coordination stays fragmented: Bosch retains separate brand sales contacts and discount schemes.
  • Facilities work extends beyond normal shifts: Bosch's advertised Facility Engineer role requires responding to off-shift emergencies.

What makes Bosch Home Comfort unique

  • Regional identities stay distinct: Bosch retains Buderus and licenses the Hitachi and YORK names for its HVAC portfolio.
  • Acoustics gets specialized testing: Bosch's Wernau heat-pump laboratory measures noise with 19 microphones.
  • Cold-climate heating reaches below freezing: Bosch's IDS Ultra maintains full heating capacity at 5°F.
