About the company

CanadaVisa provides information, tools, and resources about Canadian immigration and citizenship and hosts the largest discussion forum in the space. Its online platform grew from a pioneering launch in 1994 by attorney David Cohen, expanding into a broad hub of updated guidance and community discussion, backed by Cohen Immigration Law, a full-service immigration and citizenship law firm. The product works by offering up-to-date articles, checklists, and calculators, plus a community forum where users share experiences and ask questions; the law firm also assists clients directly with complex filings and legal advice. The company differentiates itself through its long-standing, online-first presence, the scale of its forum community, and its integration with a specialized immigration law practice. The goal is to help people understand and navigate the Canadian immigration and citizenship process efficiently and with access to professional legal support when needed.

Is The U.S. Still Safe? Canada Ponders Safe Third Country Agreement

Is the U.S. a safe third country for refugees? Some Canadians are raising this question in federal. More court. gettyWhen Canada signed the Safe Third Country Agreement (STCA) with the United States in 2004, it was widely viewed as a reasonable policy. The agreement, still in force today, requires refugee claimants to seek asylum in the first “safe” country they arrive in—typically the United States. Because of this agreement, most individuals arriving at the Canadian border from the U.S., whether at border crossings or through irregular crossings such as at Roxham Road, are ineligible to make a refugee claim in Canada unless they meet narrow exceptions. Is America Safe Under The STCA?But the assumption of American “safety” is now under renewed scrutiny

Digital Nomad Visas Surge Alongside Demand For Faster Cross-Border Payments

Digital nomads, a new breed of professionals, have emerged in recent years, reshaping the traditional employment landscape. These individuals have embraced a lifestyle that combines work with travel, leveraging technology to work remotely from anywhere in the world. As this concept gains momentum, countries worldwide, including Estonia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Tanzania, are recognizing the potential economic, tourism and innovation benefits and are introducing special visas or residency programs tailored to attract remote workers. Japan is the latest to join this growing trend of countries vying for global workers. Last month, the country’s Immigration Services Agency (ISA) announced the launch of a digital nomad visa by the end of March, The Japan Times reported, enabling nationals of nearly 50 countries to live and work in the country for up to six months at a time
