Requirements
  • Completion of a course in ultrasonic technology.
  • Obtain CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines within 30 days of hire.
  • Be registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, Cardiovascular Credentialing International, and/or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographers.
  • Hold an echocardiography certification.
  • Be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Be able to assist patients to and from the ultrasound table and perform standing and walking.
Responsibilities
  • Perform echocardiograms as directed by physicians.
  • Explain procedures to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
  • Position patients and select the appropriate transducer.
  • Conduct scanning procedures using ultrasound equipment by moving the scanner over the specified area and adjusting equipment to focus.
  • Make hard copies of images and document tests.
  • Develop reports and assemble materials for cardiologists.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment and order and stock ultrasound supplies.
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to required OSHA and Springfield Clinic training and accomplishments per policy.
  • Provide customer service in accordance with the SC Way customer service philosophy.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
