Requirements
  • The candidate must have consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five years.
  • The candidate must be able to use a computer to communicate via email and be proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and related tools and technology required for the position.
  • The candidate must have at least three years of relevant experience, such as daily interactions with senior management and other senior staff.
  • The candidate must have specific knowledge and experience of the Department of Energy Office of Environmental Management cleanup mission strategy.
  • The candidate must have specialized and specific experience relating to the Department of Energy mission and senior management culture.
  • The candidate must demonstrate technical support skills, on-site experience, data analysis skills, and knowledge sufficient to satisfy the Hanford Site Chief of Staff needs.
  • The candidate must be able to provide support services to the chief of staff and senior management, protect sensitive information, and support time-sensitive critical responses.
  • The candidate must have written and oral communication skills and experience developing briefings, correspondence, executive summaries, and other administratively technical documents.
  • The candidate must be skilled in problem identification and resolution.
  • The candidate must identify any conflicts, potential conflicts, or perceived conflicts of interest with Hanford Site contractors.
  • The candidate must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, have a granted exception to COVID-19 vaccination, or be able to meet entry and testing requirements for entrance to and work in federal buildings.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide integrated consulting and operational business support for all Hanford Chief of Staff activities and team needs.
  • Advise the Chief of Staff and other senior management members by providing reviews and recommendations on appropriate approaches, processes, and tools.
  • Prepare and review Chief of Staff-related documents and other materials supporting Chief of Staff and senior management efforts.
  • Use knowledge of Hanford Site operations to coordinate high-level integration decisions between the Richland Operations Office and the Office of River Protection.
  • Consult with other organizations to identify and resolve conflicts, recommend corrective action to prevent delays and inefficiencies, and facilitate completion of work.
  • Brief senior management on issues, resolution options, and recovery plans, and facilitate decision-making.
  • Provide expert technical support for strategic management of operations, including programmatic advice and organizational strategies, to ensure oversight is appropriately planned and executed.
  • Conduct critical assessments and implement actions to produce systemic improvements in the integrated Department of Energy oversight strategy.
  • Participate in meetings with senior management, the Hanford Site Chief of Staff, and Deputy Managers as requested.
  • Conduct comprehensive, high-level analyses and assessments of Department of Energy and integrated contractor programs to evaluate program planning and implementation.
  • Perform detailed assessments of key program areas by extrapolating information from existing data, applying professional judgment, and challenging assumptions about planned approaches.
  • Interface regularly with personnel from the Richland Operations Office, Office of River Protection, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and other Department of Energy contractors.
  • Prepare and present monthly written assessments and status reports to the Hanford Site Chief of Staff.
  • Prepare and provide written expert opinions on issues, findings, and other areas of concern or review.
  • Draft presentations for internal meetings with senior management.
  • Provide an annual written assessment of the Organization Management System and covered procedures to identify necessary updates, revisions, and streamlining.
  • Prepare weekly status reports addressing work accomplished and deliverable progress for the technical monitor.
  • Prepare monthly status reports combining weekly status reports and including deliverable progress, submission dates within the invoice period, and contractor employee work schedules including leave taken.
Desired Qualifications
  • Government, public-sector, and infrastructure-sector experience, particularly nuclear and environmental experience.
  • Department of Energy Office of Environmental Management Hanford experience.
  • Hanford experience for candidates providing integrated consulting and operational business support.
