Renault Duster Hybrid finally launched at Rs 16.99 lakh.

Renault Duster Hybrid finally launched at Rs 16.99 lakh. The Duster Hybrid comes with a 1.8-litre engine, a 1.4 kWh battery pack and a claimed fuel efficiency of 29 kpl. October 17, 2026 10 months after announcing the Duster Hybrid, Renault has finally launched it at Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The hybrid is the third powertrain that's available with the midsize SUV, following the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol and the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol. It is available in three variants - Evolution, Techno and Emotion - and prices go up to Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The Duster Hybrid is powered by a 1.8-litre petrol engine, mated to two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery pack. Renault claims that combined (petrol + e-motor), the Duster Hybrid has a range of more than 1400 km on a full tank. The combined output is rated at 158 bhp, and the electric motor is capable of 208 Nm of torque. Renault is also claiming a fuel efficiency figure of 29 kpl. Renault has also added a Formula 1-inspired technology for the automatic transmission. It has two electric gears and four engine gears. It also gets six drive modes - all-electric, energy recovery, petrol only, charging via petrol engine, series parallel hybrid and series hybrid. All of these modes are achieved through 15 different combinations from the two types of gears in the transmission. Cosmetically, the only changes on the Duster Hybrid include an illuminated Duster logo on the grille and a new dark brown interior (and both changes are exclusive to the Duster Hybrid). Otherwise, the Duster Hybrid is identical to the standard Duster. Another change is the lack of ADAS on the hybrid powertrain and a 360-degree camera. Compared to its hybrid rivals, the Duster Hybrid is cheaper than the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. However, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris' starting price is Rs 6,000 less than the Duster's, but the top-spec variant is Rs 50,000 more expensive.

VW's Blume says Europe's mass-market carmakers face "enormous pressure" from China

Europe's mass-market carmakers face "enormous pressure" from Chinese competition and a changing market, Volkswagen chief executive Oliver Blume said on Tuesday. He renewed calls for more flexible regulation and incentives for local manufacturing. Speaking at an event alongside the Paris motor show, Blume said Volkswagen, Stellantis and Renault, which together make more than 60% of Europe's cars, must build affordable electric vehicles while keeping costs under control. "We cannot build our future on export profits alone," he said. Blume is pushing through the biggest restructuring in Volkswagen's history, including tens of thousands of job cuts and possible factory closures, despite union opposition. Chinese brands are attending the show in record numbers, raising concern among European manufacturers about low-cost imports.

Renault targets 2028 for first Korea-built EV.

Renault targets 2028 for first Korea-built EV. Published: Oct. 13, 2026 - 15:13:31 Updated: Oct. 13, 2026 - 15:30:18 Ahn Sung-mi French automaker Renault Group plans to launch a South Korean-made electric vehicle with advanced driver-assistance technology in 2028, as it accelerates electrification and looks to boost exports from its Busan plant. The company will introduce a new hybrid model in 2027 before rolling out the EV the following year, Renault executives said during an interview with Korean reporters at the 2026 Paris Motor Show on Monday, where the automaker unveiled its new electric van concept E-Space. "South Korea is a very important and strategic market for us," said Ivan Segal, global sales and operations director of the Renault Brand, emphasizing the need to broaden the company's lineup beyond its existing hybrid offerings. Segal pointed to rising demand for electrified vehicles in South Korea, saying the company must strengthen its electric vehicle portfolio to remain competitive. Renault currently produces hybrid-powered models at its Busan plant, including the Grand Kolos SUV and the Filante crossover, but has yet to manufacture a full electric model of its own at the facility. Philippe Brunet, Renault Group's chief technology officer, said the automaker intends to equip the next-generation EV with the advanced system as part of its broader push to integrate artificial intelligence into vehicle technology. "That is our intention," Brunet said when asked whether the 2028 model would feature Level 2++ capabilities, which permit hands-off driving while still requiring driver supervision. He added that Renault would adopt Level 2+ or Level 2++ technology depending on the vehicle model, while also developing its own urban navigation-assisted driving system, known as City NOA. "We need to reach as many customers as possible, and to do that, we must be competitive, particularly on price," Brunet said. "That doesn't mean we want to build inexpensive cars. We aim to offer the latest technology at competitive prices. That is our priority." Renault also aims to make its Busan plant a bigger global production and export hub, especially for midsize and larger vehicles. Segal described the facility as one of the group's most competitive manufacturing sites for C and D segment vehicles, stressing its potential to serve markets beyond South Korea. "Our priority is to meet demand in the Korean market through the Busan plant," Segal said, adding that the facility is capable of producing vehicles for export worldwide. The company sees South America as a promising destination, particularly Colombia, which has a free trade agreement with South Korea. Europe could also emerge as a potential export destination, he added. [email protected]

Renault Group and EDF Group join forces to make electric vehicles more accessible and affordable for French consumers.

Renault Group and EDF Group join forces to make electric vehicles more accessible and affordable for French consumers. Boulogne-Billancourt and Paris - WEBWIRE - Tuesday, October 13, 2026 * Renault Group and EDF Group are joining forces to offer an integrated solution combining an electric vehicle, a home charging station, and smart charging management. * The two partners will notably leverage bidirectional charging technologies, including Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G), enabling Renault Group electric vehicles to become active participants in the energy system. This technology provides flexibility to the electricity grid while reducing vehicle charging costs, delivering savings equivalent to up to 10,000 km of driving per year. * * This partnership is built on a shared conviction: the growth of electric mobility will depend on charging solutions that are simple, accessible, and deliver tangible benefits to French households' budgets. Renault Group, the leading seller of electric vehicles in France, and EDF, the world's leading low-carbon energy company, together with its subsidiaries IZI by EDF and DREEV (a subsidiary of EDF Business Services), announce the signing of a partnership to accelerate the development of smart charging solutions for electric vehicles. By combining the expertise of two major French industrial players, this partnership aims to make electric mobility simpler and more affordable on a daily basis. In particular, through smart and bidirectional charging management, it will help facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles in France, improve the purchasing power of French consumers, and strengthen the country's energy sovereignty. Renault Group and EDF Group are developing technologies that enable electric vehicles from the Renault, Alpine and Dacia brands to return part of the electricity stored in their batteries when plugged in. Thanks to bidirectional charging, energy can be fed back into the grid. The vehicle becomes more than just a means of transportation: it can also help supply electricity for other uses. For owners, this translates into savings and enhanced value from the energy stored in the battery, without affecting the vehicle's day-to-day use. This partnership aims to accelerate and simplify the deployment of electric vehicles by offering private customers, through Renault Group's dealership network, a comprehensive package including home charger installation operated by IZI by EDF and a smart charging management service. The benefits for customers are clear: greater convenience and lower electricity bills. The agreement covers three areas of cooperation for single-family homes: * Commercialization and installation of charging stations; * Development of services to facilitate and optimize electric vehicle charging; * Creation of new services enabling the vehicle's energy to power certain household uses or be fed back into the electricity grid when needed. These solutions are expected to be rolled out by summer 2027. "Beyond technological innovation, this partnership provides a concrete response to two major concerns for French consumers: purchasing power and the energy transition. By helping to better manage charging costs and creating new opportunities to unlock value from energy, Renault Group and EDF Group, two French leaders, aim to make electric mobility even more attractive and accessible across the country," said JérÎme Faton, VP Customer Experience & Energy, Renault Group. "This alliance demonstrates how two leading French companies can join forces to advance competitive, sovereign and low-carbon mobility. EDF Group has extensive expertise in smart charging solutions, already deployed by our subsidiary Dreev to more than 100,000 customers across France and Europe. By combining innovative energy technologies and services tailored to consumers' needs, Renault Group and EDF Group are helping strengthen a national industrial ecosystem that creates value, jobs and innovation," said Christelle Vives, President of EDF Business Services. (*) Depending on the vehicle model concerned, its energy consumption, and the amount of time it remains connected to the home charging system. The partners intend to distribute the package through Renault Group's dealer network, with IZI by EDF and EDF handling the installation of home charging equipment. Three components of the charging service. The planned offering will cover three main areas: the distribution and installation of home charging equipment, services to simplify and optimise charging, and solutions that allow electricity stored in an EV battery to be used for household applications or exported to the grid when required. Bidirectional charging enables electricity to flow in both directions between a vehicle and an external energy system. Depending on the technology and configuration, this can include vehicle-to-grid (V2G) applications, which return electricity to the power network, and vehicle-to-home (V2H) applications, which supply power to a household. Discover more Compare EV Models Switch Power Plans Find Gas Prices The partners will continue developing the service ahead of its planned launch. Specific vehicle compatibility, pricing, charging hardware specifications and customer eligibility requirements have not yet been detailed. Renault and EDF target charging cost management. The collaboration is intended to help EV owners manage charging costs by coordinating vehicle charging with energy requirements and grid conditions. Bidirectional technology could also allow customers to use stored electricity for selected household needs or return it to the grid when appropriate. JérÎme Faton, Renault Group's vice president of customer experience and energy, said the partnership aims to address consumer concerns about the cost of electric mobility and the energy transition. "Beyond technological innovation, this partnership provides a concrete response to two major concerns for French consumers: purchasing power and the energy transition," He added that the companies intend to make EV ownership more attractive by helping customers manage charging expenses and access potential value from stored energy. The financial benefits for individual customers will depend on the final service terms, electricity tariffs, equipment costs and the conditions under which power can be exported or reused. EDF brings smart-charging experience. EDF will contribute energy-management expertise through its subsidiaries. According to Christelle Vives, president of EDF Business Services, the partnership combines vehicle technology with energy services designed for private customers. "This alliance demonstrates how two leading French companies can join forces to advance competitive, sovereign and low-carbon mobility. EDF Group has extensive expertise in smart charging solutions, already deployed by our subsidiary Dreev to more than 100,000 customers across France and Europe. By combining innovative energy technologies and services tailored to consumers' needs, Renault Group and EDF Group are helping strengthen a national industrial ecosystem that creates value, jobs and innovation." Dreev's existing smart-charging operations provide a foundation for the planned service, although the partners have yet to disclose how its existing technology will be integrated with Renault Group vehicles and home charging systems. Market launch planned for summer 2027. The initial rollout will target private customers in France, with the package distributed through Renault Group's dealer network. The companies have not yet confirmed a detailed launch date or provided a complete list of compatible models. The initiative reflects growing interest in integrating electric vehicles into home energy management and electricity networks. Its practical impact will depend on vehicle and charger compatibility, installation requirements, energy tariffs and the commercial arrangements offered to customers.
