Requirements
  • The candidate must generally be representative of the flying public.
  • The candidate must be a currently qualified commercial or private pilot or cabin crew member when required by the research project.
  • The candidate must have specific medical conditions relevant to the research protocol when required by the research project.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher, as well as Adobe products.
  • The candidate must be eligible for a Facility Access Authorization, also referred to as an Employment Authorization, from the U.S. Government's designated Security Office.
  • The candidate must be able to submit to and qualify for varying levels of background investigative requirements, up to a Top Secret or Department of Energy Q clearance.
  • The candidate may be required to complete a Financial Disclosure Statement.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in Aerospace Cabin Safety and Physiology research projects.
  • Perform tasks specified by research protocols developed by primary investigators and approved by the CAMI Institutional Review Board.
  • Evacuate from an airplane cabin simulator using ramps or slides.
  • Use aviation-specific breathing apparatus.
  • Interact with passenger information systems.
  • Perform tasks in an altitude, or hypobaric, chamber.
  • Interact with aircraft evacuation flotation equipment.
