Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Three years of accounting experience are required.
  • The ability to work with computer databases and spreadsheet software is required.
  • Strong understanding of Excel is required.
  • The ability to sit for extended periods is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop relationships with department managers to coordinate and monitor financial controls over organizational cost centers according to approved budget guidelines.
  • Coordinate accounting and financial processes to maximize efficiency in daily accounting operations and ensure internal control measures are followed.
  • Maintain the general ledger and complete and submit accurate financial data during the month-end process according to predetermined deadlines.
  • Lead and coordinate month-end variance analysis.
  • Oversee and review month-end general ledger reconciliations.
  • Oversee the work and development of assigned Accounting Department staff.
  • Coordinate staff duties to accomplish department goals and objectives and delegate projects and duties as necessary.
  • Develop and submit analytical financial data as requested by the department director or manager.
  • Assist with completing and compiling financial support documentation for budget and external audit purposes.
  • Assist with coordinating budget and external audit reviews.
  • Train new personnel and monitor their progress.
  • Participate in hospital educational opportunities to enhance job-related skills.
  • Support performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Ensure specialty-focused duties are completed accurately and on time, including monthly financial statements, consolidated financial statements, bonds, and cash flow projections.
  • Oversee functions performed by assigned Accounting Department staff.
Desired Qualifications
  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • Hospital-based or healthcare accounting experience is preferred.
