Requirements
  • Strong technical aptitude and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and rapidly adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate stairs and ladders.
  • High degree of manual dexterity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in an inclusive, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn additional software.
  • Ability to work in the presence of an active laser amplifier head that creates repetitive noise and flashlamp light at 5 Hz.
  • Shift flexibility for morning and evening shifts.
  • Availability to work first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or second shift from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Experience with optical, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Experience handling precision optical components or aligning laser systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Technical writing experience.
  • Associate degree in optics or a technology/engineering field and one year of experience in a technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities
  • Support the operation of equipment and instrumentation for laser physics experiments.
  • Perform precision alignment of optical systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Support engineers in the design and installation of new equipment.
  • Assemble, align, and test optical and mechanical components used in lasers, imaging systems, and other optical instruments.
  • Ensure the proper functioning and calibration of optical systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Document procedures and contribute to manufacturing and quality control processes.
  • Perform all functions according to defined procedures and in a manner that ensures the safety of equipment and personnel.
