Requirements
- One year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Completion of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Licensure by the North Carolina State Board of Opticians.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients with a professional attitude.
- Analyze and interpret prescriptions, including prism.
- Determine facial and eye measurements to send to the laboratory.
- Assist patients in selecting appropriate frames and lenses by assessing individual patient needs.
- Inspect eyewear to ensure that it meets ANSI standards.
- Deliver prescription eyewear and vision aids and instruct customers in their use and care.
- Provide follow-up services, including eyewear adjustment, repair, and replacement.
- Assist with business duties, including frame and lens inventory, supply, product display, and maintenance.
- Send orders for corrective eyewear and other vision aids to laboratories or vendors daily or as needed.
- Train patients on how to remove and insert contact lenses.
- Monitor and control expenses pertaining to the assigned location, including laboratory costs, frame purchases, and other controllable expenses.
- Assist with the annual inventory of frames.
- Periodically monitor ordering, delivery, and turnaround times for eyeglass and contact lens orders at the assigned location.
- Assist patients and coworkers with troubleshooting and problem-solving.
