Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain commissioning curricula, learning paths, modules, and materials covering safety, system energization, inspections, performance testing, troubleshooting, documentation, turnover, and handover processes.
  • Create learning resources including presentations, instructor guides, participant manuals, videos, e-learning modules, simulations, hands-on labs, checklists, job aids, work methods, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Develop and update standardized procedures and training content for electrical distribution, substations, energy storage, HVAC/R, controls, metering, relay testing, and other systems supported by the commissioning organization.
  • Incorporate project lessons learned, technical updates, new equipment, regulatory changes, corrective actions, and evolving industry best practices into training programs and procedures.
  • Apply adult-learning principles and blended-learning methods to make content practical, accessible, measurable, and aligned with audience experience and learning needs.
  • Identify and incorporate training technologies and tools that improve knowledge transfer, hands-on practice, assessment quality, and workforce qualification.
  • Deliver classroom, virtual, field-based, and client-facing technical training for new hires, existing employees, subcontractors, and employees transitioning into new roles.
  • Lead practical training using equipment mock-ups, simulations, and real-world scenarios that replicate commissioning tasks such as point-to-point testing, control logic verification, inspection, troubleshooting, system energization, and emergency response.
  • Adapt delivery methods, pacing, examples, and practical exercises to participant skill levels, learning styles, job responsibilities, and project requirements.
  • Conduct train-the-trainer programs, coaching, and instructor qualification activities to expand internal training capacity and ensure consistent delivery standards.
  • Provide on-site project support, field coaching, and targeted refresher training to address performance gaps, procedural changes, new technologies, and operational priorities.
  • Coordinate course schedules, facilities, attendance, course materials, instructor support, equipment readiness, and employee follow-up for technical, operational, safety, and regulatory programs.
  • Manage structured onboarding and role-based development programs for Commissioning Leads, Specialists, Technicians, and other commissioning personnel.
  • Develop and administer written tests, practical evaluations, physical and technical assessments, skill demonstrations, and field performance reviews.
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready learning records, including course completions, attendance, assessment results, certifications, qualifications, requalification dates, and individual development plans.
  • Monitor training status and compliance deadlines through the Learning Management System and other record systems, and communicate gaps, risks, and required actions to employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Coordinate training and requalification requirements for new hires, employees moving into new roles, employees assigned new equipment or procedures, and employees with identified performance gaps.
  • Analyze participant feedback, assessment data, field performance, and program metrics to measure effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Commissioning Managers, engineering teams, project leaders, and subject matter experts to identify training needs and ensure programs remain technically accurate and operationally relevant.
  • Coordinate reviews of new or revised procedures, equipment, work methods, and training materials with Safety, Engineering Standards, Training, Operations, and other stakeholders before implementation.
  • Embed OSHA, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout, arc-flash, hazard communication, energized-work, and other applicable safety requirements into curricula, assessments, and hands-on activities.
  • Support the design and construction of equipment mock-ups, lab environments, and simulations used to develop procedures and provide realistic skills practice.
  • Promote adoption of standardized procedures through committee participation, presentations, roadshows, process-improvement meetings, coaching, and field engagement.
  • Support new technology initiatives, readiness reviews, audits, corrective actions, and occasional after-hours project or emergency response activities as assigned.
  • Complete assigned tasks and deliverables on time and on budget.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Education, Training, Instructional Design, Engineering, Science, Operations, Business, or a related field is preferred; equivalent technical, military, trade, or industry experience will be considered.
  • Experience developing or coordinating training in a mission-critical, energy storage, utility, manufacturing, industrial, nuclear, chemical, construction, safety-critical, or regulated environment is preferred.
  • Experience with electrical, mechanical, HVAC/R, controls, substation, relay, metering, energy storage, or related commissioning systems and activities is preferred.
  • Experience maintaining training records, qualification tracking, compliance deadlines, certification requirements, or audit-ready documentation.
  • Experience with a Learning Management System, Rippling, SharePoint, document-control systems, or other training-record platforms is preferred.
  • Experience supporting audits, readiness reviews, corrective actions, procedure changes, or regulated training programs is a plus.
  • Relevant safety, technical, instructor, or train-the-trainer certifications, including OSHA or NFPA 70E, are preferred.

Why Accenture buying DLB stake boosts data centre builds. Accenture will acquire 65% of DLB Associates to expand end-to-end data centre development capabilities as AI demand accelerates Accenture has agreed to acquire a majority stake in DLB Associates (DLB), strengthening its ability to deliver end-to-end data centre development services as hyperscalers and cloud providers race to deploy AI-ready infrastructure. The transaction will see Accenture take a 65% stake in the US-based data centre engineering and consulting firm, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. The move is aimed squarely at addressing growing infrastructure constraints faced by technology companies as demand for AI-enabled compute continues to rise. Accenture says the acquisition will expand its capital projects capabilities, allowing it to support clients from early site selection through to engineering, construction and operational optimisation. Founded in 1980, DLB has built a reputation as a specialist in data centre site selection, due diligence, design engineering, commissioning, construction quality management and energy optimisation. The firm works with hyperscalers, emerging hyperscalers, neo-cloud providers and colocation operators, helping them bring facilities online at pace while meeting technical and operational requirements. Expanding end-to-end data centre delivery. Upon completion of the transaction, DLB's approximately 620 employees will join Accenture's Industry X practice, augmenting its infrastructure and capital projects capabilities. DLB will continue to be led by David Quirk and Neil Chauhan, with the firm's expertise integrated into Accenture's broader global delivery model. "As AI-driven demand for data center capacity accelerates, our clients increasingly face infrastructure constraints that impact their core value chains," says Julie Sweet, Chair and CEO of Accenture. "Along with DLB's deep expertise, Accenture will offer an end-to-end capability from the earliest stages of conceptual design and strategic site development through to advanced engineering, rapid deployment, and operational performance. This approach will ensure our clients can meet the ever-increasing demands of AI with speed, scale and reliability." DLB's work spans the full data centre lifecycle, from early planning and feasibility through to commissioning and operational readiness. The company has also played a role in shaping industry standards, including co-founding the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers Technical Committee TC9.9, which focuses on mission-critical data centre infrastructure. Meeting hyperscale and AI-driven demand. DLB's leadership says the partnership reflects the scale and urgency now shaping the data centre sector, particularly as AI workloads drive higher density facilities and compressed build timelines. "The data centre industry is experiencing significant growth amid an unprecedented push for scaling and DLB is at the forefront of helping clients quickly navigate every stage of the development lifecycle," says David Quirk, CEO of DLB. "We selected Accenture to unleash our ability to match that scale and help support clients through value creation and joint ideation for next-generation AI data centre - at pace." Neil Chauhan, Chief Innovation Officer at DLB, points to the pace of deployment now expected by cloud and colocation operators. Capital projects become a strategic focus. For Accenture, the acquisition sits within a broader strategy to expand its infrastructure and capital projects services, including data centre development. The company has made a series of acquisitions since 2023 to build regional and technical depth across planning, construction management and programme delivery. "We are entering a new era where companies need AI-ready infrastructure that's built rapidly, efficiently, reliably and at scale," says Manish Sharma, Chief Strategy and Services Officer at Accenture. "Its clients are facing challenges as they execute on their scale ambitions and look to Data Centre Magazine to help them with site planning and selection, managing staffing shortages, ensuring sustainability, and protecting against cybersecurity risks. "By pairing DLB's data centre services expertise with Accenture's global reach and strengths across supply chain, procurement, construction management and technology, we plan to address client demand for more value and innovation." DLB will expand Accenture's data centre footprint in the Americas, complementing previous acquisitions across the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific. The transaction terms were not disclosed, and closing is expected following regulatory review.
