Requirements
- An experienced medical assistant is required.
- Comply with applicable federal, state, and local standards and requirements for nursing and medical assistant services.
- Communicate effectively to improve health literacy.
- Facilitate patient access to appropriate medical and specialty providers and care coordination support specialists.
- Serve as the primary informational resource for patients, families, care teams, payers, and community resources in support of care plans.
- Track test results and manage medications effectively.
- Attend and actively participate in all training required for the position.
- Assist the triage nurse or medical assistant in the clinic.
- Perform medication prior authorizations.
- Operate general office equipment, including computer software applications, email, and surveillance equipment or cameras.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, the public, agencies, employees, administration, and clinic team members.
- Obtain annual influenza vaccination and job-specific immunizations.
- Submit to a tuberculosis screening process.
- Hold a valid medical assistant registration or certification.
- Hold current Basic Life Support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily clinic duties, including vital signs, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments-waived testing, venipunctures, therapeutic injections, and immunizations.
- Assist with stocking examination rooms and monitor materials and medications for expiration dates and stock levels.
- Prepare patients for examinations or treatments and ensure the flow of patient care by anticipating provider needs.
- Participate in quality improvement activities designated by clinic managers.
- Perform other functions required to fulfill the expectations of the medical assistant role.
Desired Qualifications
- At least three years of work experience in direct patient care in family practice.
- Computer applications work experience.
- Current medical assistant certificate or registration.
- Previous experience in a clinic setting, preferably family practice.
