Lytx launches AI alerts for drivers going too fast for road conditions

Lytx has launched Speed for Conditions, a feature that alerts commercial fleet drivers when they travel too fast for road conditions, even if they are under the posted limit. The San Diego company announced the expansion of its Dynamic Risk suite on October 19, 2026, and the feature is available now. The tool uses machine vision and artificial intelligence to detect inclement weather. It then calculates a speed threshold, configured by each fleet, and alerts drivers in the cab when their speed may create elevated risk. Managers can review the actual speed, the threshold, and the detected road condition in the Event Viewer. Lytx says this helps them coach drivers more fairly. "Every driver knows the speed limit, but the speed limit is not always the safe speed," said chief executive officer Chris Cabrera.

Lytx launches 360 Hub Kit with AI-ready gateway and HD auxiliary cameras for expanded fleet visibility

Lytx, a fleet management company, has launched the Lytx 360 Hub Kit, a gateway and auxiliary camera system designed to expand visibility around commercial vehicles. The solution integrates up to four HD camera views—expandable to eight—covering sides, rear, cargo areas, and blind zones. The kit offers 1080p video, cloud-based access, and over-the-air updates. Footage synchronises with Lytx's existing DriveCam system and is accessible through a unified portal. AI-powered features, including side and rear pedestrian detection and blind spot monitoring, will be released in winter 2026. The system aims to help fleet operators investigate incidents more quickly, strengthen liability defence, verify service delivery, and deter theft. Chris Cabrera, Lytx's CEO, said the kit provides "a clearer, more connected view of vehicles, drivers, assets, and worksites.

WasteVision AI integrates with Lytx to extend fleet intelligence from cab to curb for waste haulers

WasteVision AI has launched a production-ready integration with Lytx, enabling waste haulers using Lytx's safety platform to add operational AI capabilities without replacing existing systems. The integration extends fleet intelligence from cab safety monitoring to collection operations. WasteVision's platform uses computer vision to provide three core functions: Service Verification, which automatically documents collection events; Overflow Detection, identifying overflowing bins for surcharge assessment; and Contamination Detection, spotting unwanted materials in waste streams. The system analyses images captured during collection, providing photographic evidence tied to specific locations. The integration combines Lytx's safety data with WasteVision's operational insights, allowing haulers to correlate safety events with collection activities. Lytx currently protects over 6.3 million drivers with video safety and telematics technology. Early adopters report improved visibility and new revenue from AI-verified overflow surcharges.
