  • An Associate's degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology is required.
  • Eligibility for certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by a recognized certifying agency is required.
  • The role requires adherence to safety considerations when working with biohazardous conditions, radiation exposure, blood-borne pathogens, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The role requires the ability to perform precise work, including frequent bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, twisting, and walking, as well as occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Collect, process, and handle blood and other biological specimens in accordance with established procedures.
  • Instruct patients in the appropriate collection of samples.
  • Conduct clinical laboratory tests in hematology, microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis as assigned.
  • Conduct chemical analyses of body fluids, including blood, urine, and spinal fluid, using a microscope or automated analyzer.
  • Conduct blood tests for transfusion purposes and blood counts.
  • Develop and maintain cell and tissue cultures for testing purposes.
  • Examine cells to locate abnormalities.
  • Prepare volumetric solutions and reagents to be combined with samples according to standardized formulas or experimental procedures.
  • Set up, adjust, maintain, and clean laboratory equipment.
  • Promote safety, environmental, and infection-control practices and methods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
