What believers are saying

  • Q3 2026 revenue hit $12.2 billion, up 33.7%, while AI orders reached $2.4 billion.
  • HPE raised FY26 guidance on September 2, 2026, to $3.75-$3.85 EPS and $3.75 billion FCF.
  • Networking revenue grew 75% in Q3 2026, helped by Juniper integration and Oracle demand.

What critics are saying

  • HPE still carries $20.2 billion debt and $30.4 billion purchase obligations after Juniper.
  • California and twelve states sued the Juniper deal; integration and divestiture friction continues.
  • If Juniper integration fails, Cisco and Dell regain share while HPE's networking thesis collapses.

What makes Hewlett Packard Enterprise unique

  • HPE Cray anchors sovereign HPC, now paired with QuEra's fault-tolerant quantum systems, September 2026.
  • Juniper acquisition gives HPE enterprise networking scale and AI fabric credibility in 2026.
  • GreenLake and Alletra 10K unify cloud, storage, and operations under one control plane.

QuEra partners with HPE to integrate fault-tolerant quantum computing with on-premises HPC environments

QuEra Computing has partnered with HPE to integrate neutral-atom fault-tolerant quantum computing with on-premises high-performance computing environments powered by the HPE Cray supercomputing platform. The collaboration targets HPC centres, national laboratories, and enterprises. The partnership aligns with the US Department of Energy's Genesis Mission, which combines AI, supercomputing, quantum systems, and scientific instruments. QuEra and HPE will pursue integrated testbeds, hybrid algorithm co-design, and software interoperability. QuEra now offers two deployment routes: on-premises through HPE for sovereign workloads, and cloud access through a major cloud provider. Libra, QuEra's first fault-tolerant quantum computer featuring over 256 logical qubits, is targeted for cloud availability in 2028. The companies have collaborated since 2025, with HPE showcasing their joint vision at HPE Discover Las Vegas 2026.

Dell, Super Micro and HPE: AI server makers with strong buy ratings and surging demand

Dell Technologies, Super Micro Computer, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise are attracting investor interest as AI infrastructure demand surges. All three companies carry a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) rating. Dell reported strong second-quarter fiscal 2027 results, with revenues up 53% and earnings per share jumping 203% year over year. The company's Infrastructure Solutions Group revenue climbed 89% to $31.8 billion, driven by a 100% increase in AI-optimised server revenue to $16.4 billion. Dell booked a record $60.9 billion in AI orders during the quarter, with backlog rising to $95 billion. The company expects roughly $19 billion in AI server revenues for the third quarter and aims for $60 billion in AI server sales for fiscal 2027. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for Dell's current-year earnings has improved 32.3% over the past 30 days.

HPE AI orders hit $2.4B as Cramer backs Dell despite Neri's strong performance

On CNBC's Mad Money, Jim Cramer acknowledged that Hewlett Packard Enterprise has "the horses" under CEO Antonio Neri but said he remains a "Dell fan," citing his preference for Michael Dell and his company. HPE's fiscal third-quarter revenue rose 33.7% year over year to $12.2 billion, with AI-systems orders increasing over 30% sequentially to $2.4 billion. Dell reported stronger growth, with fiscal second-quarter revenue up 58% to $47 billion and AI-optimised server revenue doubling to $16.4 billion. Both companies face challenges: HPE has $20.2 billion in debt and $30.4 billion in purchase obligations, whilst Dell's gross margin fell 10 basis points to 19.4% due to AI server mix pressures.

HPE tackles memory supply constraints with multiyear agreements and better forecasting

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is addressing persistent memory supply constraints through multiyear supplier agreements, alternative product configurations, and improved forecasting, CEO Antonio Neri said on a September earnings call. However, supply shortages limited HPE's ability to convert strong AI systems demand into revenue in Q3. To meet rising customer orders, HPE increased inventory to $11.8 billion by end of Q3. The company has signed multiyear supplier agreements to secure capacity, reducing lead times and improving backlog conversion. "Supply will continue to be constrained, which means we're going to continue to run into high backlog," Neri said. HPE expects Q4 revenue between $13.9 billion and $14.8 billion, up from Q3's $12.2 billion, driven by networking and cloud demand.

HPE shares up 120% as AI server orders hit $2.4B, vindicating Cramer's post-earnings optimism

Hewlett Packard Enterprise's shares have risen over 120% in the past year, positioning it alongside Super Micro and Dell as key AI server hardware providers. After volatile post-earnings trading in early September, Jim Cramer defended the stock, saying the quarter "wasn't all that bad". HPE's Q3 results showed 16.2% revenue growth and 75% networking revenue growth. The company raised its fiscal 2026 revenue guidance to 34-37% and reported $2.4 billion in AI orders, up from Q2's $1.8 billion. However, profitability remains challenging. Networking operating profit margin fell to 22.4% from 25.1% previously. Management noted orders grew three to five times faster than revenue, potentially delaying recognition. Hedge fund interest increased significantly, with 85 funds holding stakes in Q2 versus 58 in Q1. Point72 Asset Management added a $120 million position.
